I have a stallion who has been bitted using a loose ring snaffle.
Am I ok to show him in hand using this or should he be in a stallion bit?

Yes it's fine to show him in snaffle bit as long you and him are happy (stallion bit is a bit old fashion nowadays )

You can use whatever bit he goes nicely in or what suits him, loose ring or small eggbut snaffles look neat. A couple of ours suit a stallion bit and go nicely in them but for some ponies a stallion bit is too heavy.

I always bitted and then showed my colts using what I would for a ridden - double jointed snaffle, and I'm not to fussed about loose ring or egbert snaffle. It does need to be the right size of ring to give a good look for the pony though with an IH bridle, with my As many of my little snaffles had rings too big to give a good picture. Never had any comment from a judge about the bit.

I agree with the above. Bit in what your pony is comfortable with and do everything in your power to avoid ruining a future ridden career! I used various bits and yes, always also had an eye on the 'picture'.
