I have a horse who has, about 3 weeks ago decided that his stable door that he has been going in and out of for months, is the scareyest thing ever!! he wanders out of his stable through it with not a care in the world, but has to shoot in, - over the top of me if I am not careful I suspect!! I have tried making him stand outside, and only allow one step at a time, and stop, and that is a lot better, but sometimes he just rushes and I can't stop him!! Any suggestions as to how to cure this? Any suggestions gratefully received!!

Have you had his eyes checked? Is it dark going back into the stable? Has he had a bang on the head ? I would maybe ring your vet and discuss it with him/her then get him checked over , I had a mare like that , you could leave her stable door open for hours on end and she would never come out , she would stand wanting to go out but not cross the threshold , I think she was agrophobic as she also was difficult coming OUT of the lorry ..

I stop them rushing when being led by stopping them and then reversing, repeating until they no longer try to rush - I wonder if this would help in that situation?
