It was great being able to watch the sale last night through live streaming. I was a little surprised how little some of these ponies were sold for especially the ones with Hoys tickets.

I wondered if you would bid on Colne Tulip when I knew you were looking to buy. Does anyone know what criteria is used to decide what should go forward as a high flyer?

We bought one of Sandy Andersons riddens. He's only a baby and not been shown. Lovely pony, really excited to bring him out.
You have to put your entry in for the High Flyers sale and then Catrin & Terry decide what goes forward.

The high flyer entries close earlier as far as I know which was one of the reasons some ponies which most people now expected to be in the higher flyers weren't,
It was a shame for the owners that some of the prices were so low, but good on everyone who grabbed a bargain!

I think it depends on the pony and the new family, some ponies take lots in their stride, others are more sensitive. I don't know this pony personally, this is a general comment!

Lol, she wouldn't have been going to hoys this year if she had come home with us and I'm 'informed' she may well have been bought as a brood mare by someone who wasn't actually at the sale.

Beautiful pony, I agree though would be a big ask of pony and new jockey to get it together for HOYS in 2 weeks ish? A section B was also sold with a HOYS ride, be interesting to watch if either go with their new owners.

It happened recently and with great success, so I guess it depends on the pony/new owner/rider etc.

I know in the past some have gone back to the previous owners/producers until HOYS so as to keep the routine

Both gorgeous quality ponies that have been to HOYS more than twice with previous owners. Good Luck to them

I was v disappointed at the number of ponies withdrawn from the highflyers sale. I've had to w/d from the main sale for very good reasons and had a to pay a fee, so I hope this was the case with them. I enjoy FO very much and have made some very good purchases there. its a wonderful way to buy ponies. You can see at least half a dozen that fit your criteria on one day, make decisions and a purchase easily and enjoy yourself at the same time. It was sad the prices were not higher for the HF, but the market dictates these.

Its a shame that some withdrew from the high flyer sale. People look forward to seeing these high class ponies sold. What happens if all withdrew one year?
Do these ponies sell before sale weekend? It seems a shame to get the prestige of being a High Flyer but not actually go and most disappointing for people to travel to bid only to find the pony isn't there

I know one was withdrawn because it was a rig and the other had a vets certificate, so they are fair reasons to be withdrawn

A vets cert is fair enough. to 'discover' a rig that soon before a sale a bit more questionable. My main point was that there were several withdrawals from the HF which was disappinting. Maybe unavoidable, but disappointing none the less!

I thought the High Flyer was a vast improvement on recent years, whilst there was no huge prices, most ponies sold well at decent money and only 3 went unsold when its been up to 40% in previous sales.
I dont know why ponies were withdrawn but I would be very careful about making allegations of ponies being Rigs when the only 2 males withdrawn from the high flyers both had stallion licences!!

But if you calculate the not forwards there were actually 7 not sold!! I think the high flyers needs a shake up to be honest. When it first started it was the creme de la creme of ponies which were offered. I felt there were only a certain few ponies entered which I genuinely classed as 'high flyers'
