I don't often visit Horse Gossip these days because I dislike the general attitude, but there was a post on here (that has since been taken down) about some showing people. I don't want to name names but the post was incredibly spiteful, making fun (tho it wasn't particularly funny) of the horses' names and generally being unkind. Why is this? What do people gain from this sort of bile? I can only imagine it is the green-eyed monster coming into play as it was about the rides the family had at HOYS but seriously people, think before you post such nastiness.

No idea which post you're on about, but surely dredging it up with this post highlights the 'nastiness'
From one of my favourite films I quote Oddball:
"Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?"
Best of luck to EVERYONE at HOYS this week!!!!!!!!!

Sadly I didn't miss the post, I hope the mods can trace via IP address the culprit. It was neither funny or clever, and attempted to poke fun at or undermine a young girl before HOYS. Jealousy is a terrible thing, but whoever posted must be worried to be trying to undermine another competitor in this pathetic way. I work with young people and cyber bullying is a serious issue, this is the 2nd case I have seen in as many days. I agree good luck at HOYS to all, but I actually think the post should be highlighted for what it was.

Bullying shouldn't ever be tolerated. Even though this is clearly pathetic jealousy and the 'victim' clearly has good friends and a brilliant support team around her, it is still an attack on a child.
These people are probably fellow competitors. Sad times.

Shocking and vile behaviour. I really, really do hope, moderators, that you can trace this and do something about the terrible post. Removing it is a good start, but it would be great if some action could be taken. Such, as naming and shaming to the showing societies. Chances are these might be people they've already got on their radar...

I've only just come on and seen all this, I've seen the post in question, I cannot understand the sad mentallity of some people. I'm so glad I'm not a jealous person, I'm always genuinely pleased for the success of others.
The person who posted it is obviously as their guest name stated 'in awe'. You sad dispicable person, please get a life outside the gutter.

I am utterly disgusted at the post and I do hope that the IP address is traced and the persons responsible are dealt with accordingly its cyber bullying !! To name the girl and her ponies is direct bullying and was most certainly not done in any sort of laughable matter, the family and owners of the ponies this has effected are one of the nicest families I have met and I feel honored to be able to call them friends. We all work hard and try our hardest to get the best out of our horses/ponies and to achieve any kind of qualification for a major championship is not one to be mocked at by those that are jealous I for one will cherish the day for a lifetime if and when we get the opportunity to qualify for hoys but in the mean time we will continue to have fun and fully support all our fellow showing friends that have. I hope the persons are eventually named and then the showing vicinity can see what vile people they are, also I think our societies need to look into this and then decide if this is the type of members they would like, some may see it as a silly comment was made possibly by a child but if this behavior is allowed then where does it stop after all this is not the first time!!

Although I didn't see the post concerned, I wholeheartedly agree that this is a terrible thing to do to anyone, let alone a child and I really hope if the perpetrators are fellow competitors, that they get beaten by the person they were so horrible about, that would be Karma at its best. Good luck to everyone at HOYS, it is a huge achievement to get there and you need to all thoroughly enjoy and savour the whole experience as much as possible. Well done mods for acting so quickly and yes I too think they should be named and to the relevant societies, as it is this very type of behaviour that gets showing a bad name. Have a wonderful time everyone and a safe trip there and back home x

Mods, whilst understanding your need to manage things in a certain way, I would be interested in an update on the action you have taken. Through no fault of HG nor most of the users, there have been similar incidents in the past and I am sure there will be in the future. One of things I enjoy about this site is the concept of group and camaraderie, it would therefore seem reasonable that by acting decisively you could defend our group position - please!! I know for a fact that some societies find it hard to do anything without proof - and are keen to take remedial action with troublemakers/bullies - please, if you do have this evidence, do something with it. Removing the thread/post is a great start, a formal statement would be good too, and also data sent to societies as a next step. Otherwise, there is little incentive for these vile people to stop. Thanks

Catkin - the mods are looking into it. I'm afraid most of us at are HOYS and therefore it isn't as easy to look into things on phones etc, much easier on a proper computer. We have advised Sam that we will do all we can to identify the individual once we're all home. Threads like these are taken very seriously, especially with the new rules from societies regarding social media.

Let it spoil things for her? Not on your nellie!
In this life, the proof is in the pudding, not in empty or nasty words
The young lady concerned has proved she is made of good, tough stuff by rising above all this to pull off a top, centre stage performance, taking one of the most coveted championships @ Hoys 2015 and m'dear, I take my hat off to you

I just wanted to come on here to thank everyone for their kind wishes after the horrible post directed at Georgia. We were overwhelmed by the kindness of people who posted on here and facebook. Georgia and Smartie had a great HOYS, despite what that horrible person wrote. I am very lucky that Georgia is strong and that we are supported by family, friends and horsegossipers, and although she was incredibly upset by the post, it almost spurred her on to prove to the original poster “in awe” that neither she nor her lovely ponies were deserving of such spite. However, I am not prepared to leave it, as I feel very strongly that cyberbullying should not be tolerated – other children may not have reacted in that way, and it could have spoilt their show, or worse, we all read how vulnerable children can be and I will simply not tolerate that revolting behaviour – it must be stamped out. Whilst, I am very disappointed that HG will not disclose the IP address to me, I am assured that they will preserve this evidence so that it can be disclosed the police. I can understand that they are concerned about the data protection issues, but that should not stand in the way of stamping out this miserable behaviour. I will be reporting the matter to the police and to the various show societies. I have taken some preliminary advice and understand what steps I need to take to take the matter forward. HG I rely on you to assist the police with all their enquiries, and hope that you show that you take the issue of cyberbullying as seriously as I do. “In Awe” if you are out there and reading this, rest assured I take the issue very seriously, and will not let the matter rest.

I wholeheartedly support Sam in her quest to get to the bottom of this vile incident. I do know (for a fact) that the DP situation can be worked round and it looks as if this process is now underway, which is great. I am just hoping that any delays in providing this information have not allowed the OP to distort or hide any identifications, particularly if they are IT savvy. HG does get quite bad press sometimes as being the source of spiteful comment. I have always defended the site, its a tool and the users are to blame if things get out of hand. However, this is a great opportunity for HG to show that this behaviour will not be tolerated and most importantly, action will be taken against bullies. Good luck to you in pursuing this case.

Heartiest congratulations Georgia and Smartie for a brilliant HOYS and to all your family too. As a parent I totally support Sam in taking this to the highest level - someone whose behaviour starts with cyberbullying can well escalate into far worse things - you only have to read the news to realise that. Lets hope the police are able to track the source, they certainly would have the ability. Take care Georgia and keep winning!!!

Wonderful news that Georgina did so well (sorry I dont follow you or know you so I'm not sure which class she was in). I just wanted to say that and show my personal support. I am relatively new to the showing world and have not really experienced any direct nastiness .... yet. I have however experienced a couple of times an unwillingness to assist overly which is such a shame in my view. I was at a show a couple of weeks ago and we entered a class rather late but not too late. Daughter finished a WH class and we needed to change tack for her next class so we shot back to the lorry and when done I pushed the pair of them in the direction of the ring with the instructions 'trot over to the ring'. I turned up 5 mins later to find my daughter in tears because the spectators would not let her in the ring (steward was in the ring). Ponies had not started trotting when she arrived but by the time I arrived they had. Secretary was aware we would be tight for time and was perfectly happy - in fact they said I could join the class even if they had started to trot. The spectators simply shrugged their shoulders and said that they thought she was mistaken and shouldnt have been in the class. No one had bothered to try to attract the attention of the steward. Judge allowed her in eventually but would not judge her. Next time I will make sure I am with her at all times. I suppose I should feel chuffed that my 9 year old daughter was such a threat in a class of 4 adults on ponies ....

Thank you for your kind words mcnaughty. Sorry you have had a bad experience from other competitors but all I can say is that i've been showing for over 30 years and we have always had a lovely time and a wonderful relationship with our fellow competitors until this recent incident, so I hope you don't feel put off by you're experience. The only thing I can say is that if it was a class judged under BSPS rules it is against the rules to be allowed into a class once they have started trotting.
As an update on our incident. I informed the police who have referred it to CID. It is classed as 'malicious' and is being looked into. 'In awe' who is, I would think an adult, or who is being influenced by an adult, is I must say, quite clever and is obviously experienced in IT or well up on the workings of mobile phones or computers.
So even if nothing goes any further with this let's just hope they keep their nasty comments to themselves in future and don't upset anyone else.

I've only just seen this post and, although I never saw the original bully thread (thank god), degrading anyone - let alone a minor - either face to face or behind the safety of the keyboard is simply wrong and malicious as you said. Also, I was at HOYS spectating on Thursday and watched the m&m workers, Georgia and Smartie did the most incredible round and they looked so beautiful and together in the championship. That pony sure can gallop! In fact, I was so inspired by what I saw from the HOYS m&m workers (and especially the m&m working hunter pony champion! ), it's inspired me to give them a go with my little welsh B, which I never thought I could do until I incidentally watched some of Smartie's youtube videos! Good luck with catching this vulgar moron and well done Georgia for overcoming the envy of others and riding so beautifully in the Caldene arena when so many other top combinations were caught out! X
