Meant to add to previous post that, I imagine, most plaited ponies doing WHP classes also do SHP classes and are, therefore, in most cases, up to height for both disciplines. I dont think so many whp's also do shp nowadays? Though I may be proved wrong.

Sorry - final one for now - I'm not trying to take anything away from the plaiteds and their talented jockeys - hats off to them.

153cm clear rounds Golden Island Star Sole Na Gig Dancing Hero Freckleton Maximus Noble Topman Fortview Toy Boy So it looks like the 153s have managed the track better than the other height sections so far. I got it wrong earlier, and forgot there were 3 in the plaiteds that were in the M&M's and two have jumped it clear today. Perhaps the 153's and exc 143cms are very strong classes with some exceptional jumping ponies? (Not to demean the other sections of either class in any way as all did brilliantly to qualify!)

There are undoubtly many talented jockeys and horses/ponies in all sections but I suppose in bigger sections you get older more experienced jockeys which Is probably why more clears. So far there have been 3 clears in 13hh, 14hh and 5 in 15hh. But elimatilons have been 7 in 13hh (4 of which falls), 2 in 14hh (1 fall) and 0 eliminations in the 15hh so the obvious difference has been the number of riders that got around rather than the clears. Think everyone here is amazing to have got here and have the b***s to jump it

Congratulations to all, whatever section.

I think that the fact that in the 133 section the children are still very young my daughter would be eligible in the plaited section (not M & M her pony is a PB dartmoor) he is just under 122cm and she is 10 - as a rider they haven't got the experience that most riders on 153's have. I personally find it most bizzare that between the 133's and the horses there is only 20cm difference in a fence!! Very well done to all and I agree it should be a test but in the plaiteds they are kids and surely we don;t want to put them off for life!!

When you consider m&m 133cm have to jump max heigh 85cm and plaited 133 max heigh 1m and then 143cm m &m jump max 95cm compared to 143 plaited that jump 1.10m max. Not then forgetting that m&ms can be piloted by adults whereas these are just children. Is it any wonder that the plaited struggle more same size animals jumping bigger tracks in the same space, how the intermediates jump 1.25 in that arena is beyond me consider the cuddy is 1.24cm is in the international 133 cms have always jumped 1 metre and until last few years only 2 or 3 clear at HOYS.This is the final championship of the year and some riders last time in 133 cams class and should be a test. This years winner has always got round courses. He was placed 10 years ago and has won at RI also ; a much deserved winner .The change has been in the demands made by the qualifiers. The 133 cms M and M class is a relatively new introduction and a very different test. No one is taking away they're achievement and im aware that's the height fences have always been someone just wanted to know the difference between the two classes. I do also think some WHP Q are not demanding enough for the challenge that awaits at HOYS
