For those considering buying a Connemara there is an interesting article tucked away in Breeding Chit Chat on here. Knowing about this genetic problem via a previous HG thread saved us from buying an affected pony with the heartbreak it can bring

Please do - I feel one of the important purposes of forums like this is to spread information, and this topic is so important to anyone interested in Connemaras. On FB it tends to disappear and you can't find things you know are there somewhere, here there is always a search and threads stay available. Would it be too much to ask for you to put up the links to the HWSD and BCPS?
Very busy today or I'd do it but no time to go playing on the internet!

Further info can also be found on Facebook at HWSS (Hoof Wall Separation Syndrome) and there is another page, which is a personal account of an owners struggle with HWSD. But not all chippy poor feet are indicative of the syndrome. I am more than happy to answer any questions anyone would like to ask me and I can tell you about what happened with our boy.

Just to add that there is now a DNA test for the offending gene, so if you are thinking of buying a Connie it's possible to have it tested first.
