Depending on what you mean by the 'next level' if you are wanting to show at county level you don't need to be a member of any society UNLESS you wish to qualify for the finals at NPS or BSPS, in which case you would have to be a member of that society. However if you aren't already a member of you breed society that would be the best one to join - far too many people think it's not important to support their own breed society - without that support the breeds struggle. To compete at HOYS and most County Shows that is the only membership you will need. The NPS/BSPS have slightly different aims/membership structures - some will also require you to register your pony with them and that's an additional cost each year! TSR aims to make showing easier and offers some masterclasses but so do most breed societies and the NPS/BSPS. If you are really keen on showing the way to succeed is to try and work out wish judges will like your pony not which are the best value. The idea that all judges like all ponies is simply not the way forward and is the key to success. Good luck whatever you decide.

Its also worth looking at where each society holds it championship show as if one of them is close to you, it makes sense to try and qualify for their finals. For example the NPS Summer Championships are held at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern each August and have M&M Championships from Novice, Intermediate to Open, as well as the HOYS qualifiers. Plus a whole range of M&M WHP Finals and Junior classes. Nearly all the big county shows have qualifiers for the Summer Championships and a whole host of other shows do too.
In addition they have Winter Finals at their Spring Show in April at Addington. You don't have to be a member to qualify, just to enter the Final.

Hi
If you want to compete in classes that are HOYS Qualifiers TSR are by far the best value at £20 all in. You will also be able to go to a regional final in your area. Members have lots of other benefits as well.
Good luck !
