Some advice please! I have a dark bay British riding pony that I am going to show in hand, do you have to wear a tweed jacket or could you wear a navy one? I will wear light coloured trousers, navy velvet Charles Owen hat, white/yellow shirt with red/gold tie (matching her browband). Comments please!! Thanks in advance.

A nice tweed if you are showing in hand.

Just a quickie. Are you a junior or senior? If you are a senior your hat would be much better if it was a beagler (with no straps) but obviously if you are a junior you will need a securely fastened hat.

Make sure you have lace up shoes with good treads for running on every kind of surface. Riding boots of any kind are simply not suitable. You are absolutely right to wear light coloured trousers if your pony is dark . However, unless you are showing a youngster who's behaviour may be a little unpredictable , a Trilby, or preferably a straw panama type hat looks so much better than a hard hat.

Again, depends if she is a junior or not. I prefer a beagler on a lady.

Phillippa--------------yes you are quite right. I just came back to edit my post to say a Beagler or hard hat essential for a junior .

Yes that's fine. I also show my RP in hand in a beagler

Gloves are a must IMO, put comfort before style as it is more important to show your pony well than look OTT.
