I would like to suggest some extra rules for the guest area as every year it is used for "judge bashing"
This casues no end of trouble and is, nine out of ten times, completely unfair.
The guest area should be used for genuine personal problems, not a way to have a dig at others without saying who you are. The Moderators should close and delete threads that break the rules , and if the same person keeps posting this sort of thing, should name and shame them. Sorry Moderators to put this upon you but someone has to do it.

What happened to the days when you had a rent in your horse box and just did not go under that judge again.Instead due to social media people come on sites with such terrible venom in what is supposed to be fun.if your not happy with an outcome go through the correct channels and if that does not work just do not go under that judge again. I have had horses for fifty years and I am so glad I do not compete anymore.Yes there are nice people out there but they are becoming less and less. I am sad to say i think the horse world has become a very nasty place and I am glad i am out of it

Agree, some of the threads turn very, very nasty, just an excuse for for nameless people, to vent their wrath.

The moderators already do just about everything that has been suggested above. Ie close and delete threads that break the site rules. Also it states in the rules (that everyone has read or should have read before positing) that if anyone has a problem with a post or the contents of a post they can contact a mod with their concerns. A decision will then be made on what action, if any , should be taken.
As things stand I have no intention to change the way the guest area works.

I'm just wondering if 'guest area' is the best name for it? I have used it to post about an issue (not horse related actually but to do with the health of one of my children) where I wanted my identity kept secret at the time, and it was very useful, but by being called 'guest area' it kind of implies that it is for non members, who then think they can say what they like? Just a thought.

I do agree that "guest area" may seem to imply that it is an area specifically for none members. But regardless of what you call it, members and non members alike will use it to communicate or make a point of discussion anonymously.

If posts that break the rules were deleted asap then those people that are repeat offenders will stop because they have no one to vent to! I agree with 'fed up' guest above. The season is young but I have already turned the inside of my lorry blue with my personal opinion of some judges! LOL. What's the point of coming on here and having a go - I mean, its not going to change the result.
Can I ask though - if you are a show secretary and you noticed that entries were down regularly for a particular judge - would you stop using them or carry on blindly ignorant of the massing hint being shown by a lack of horse flesh coming forward in front of a particular judge??

I'm a member but not logged in as I have a new pooter, and it's taking me a while to remember all my user names and passwords these days, so nothing sinister here. I agree, as Mods see posts that are unpleasant or are breaking the rules then they should delete them, but going back a few years a lot of liberties were allowed to be taken by certain members/guests that should have been dealt with sooner, but that was in the past and I feel the Mods do a good job now, and there is little point in airing a private grievance on here under an anonymous pseudonym. In regards to your last query mcnaughty, I am involved in organising shows and when looking at Judges for the forthcoming season, we discuss who will bring competitors in, and who will discourage them, based on a pretty sound knowledge of our subject - so no, if we feel people will not come forward due to a certain 'pattern' that has previously emerged, then no, we will not book them. No show can afford to run at a loss, so why ignore what your competitors think and carry on regardless, doing that will just hammer nails into your coffin.

I think the guest area allows people to be a little more risqué and allows them to say things they wouldn't ordinarily have the courage to say which leads to close to the bone, heated discussions.
I for one am quite open in that I always post under my own name and stand firm behind my convictions. I've got broad shoulders!!

I certainly think people tend to be far more spiteful and personal than those who log in, and woe betide anyone that comments on it! At the end of the day what people say has little effect on me.

Like a lot of threads on here this is starting to drift off topic. Not a problem to me. To continue the off topic theme, I am pleased to see that show organisers are starting to look at which judges will fill the rings and which won't. I know you can't please all the people all the time, but you only need to look at entries for some of the classes to see who is considered to be fair and who is seen as not worth a trip out.

Yes!! It's one of the many many things I take in to account when choosing judges!
