I was just wondering the same thing. I have had a mare go 12 months but nothing any longer. At the moment my mare is two weeks late, so we are beginning to wonder if she is in foal at all, even though she was scanned at 8 weeks.

The vet is right, she'll foal when she is ready. I have had lots go over 365 days. One went a couple of weeks over that years ago. I know of a few mares who are late, over the 12 months, this year.
Nothing to be done but wait. Good luck J

afraid you'll have to wait, it is worrying when its the first time you've had a mare go a year but it happens......and the foal will appear when it and the mare are ready, do seem to be a few hanging on a bit longer this year. Good luck lack of sleep is very trying.

I had one go 6 weeks over last year, mare and foal were both absolutely fine(I wasn't!) but looks as though she's going to do it again.

She will foal when ready, leave her be! nature is a wonderful thing as long as you dont interfere!!! she will foal, believe me she will foal, it may be well cooked but it will happen, we had a mare that has gone 12 days over this year, but remember all good things are worth waiting for!! and 'the more you watch, the longer it will take' good luck, and hope its a filly.

I had a mare that went 13 months exactly from the day she was covered. I know the dates were right as it was my own stallion and we only covered her the once. When he was born his ears were bent over with being in there so long, luckily these came straight but he still has a kink in his tail.
