scottie125, if you have nothing nice to say, then keep your mouth closed, its always when you have had a bad day. PUK might be just as bad.....you never know...

Well done to Mia Harrison and Millpond Look Again on their qualification for RI 2010 at Mid Herts, having such a great first season together! So nice to see the Millpond ponies always doing so well. Congrats to Scooby too.

Tuppence - just to be controversial I'll put through another view of the hack judging. I'll also add that i had a horse in the smalls but wasn't in the top two and have never been under this judge before and don't know her.
The small class had 12 in it - it was a good class, nothing in there that stood out as being out of it's depth. With the exception of one, they went very well and, I have to say, the quality of the ride judging was excellent - she probably gave herself a problem because they all went so well for her! Only she would have known what was a good ride, much harder to tell from the outside of the ring.
The winner was Maid in Manhatton, which I hadn't seen in the flesh before and was particularly nice - lovely on the strip and gave a very good individual show. I think this will be in the numbers at HOYS. The next horses in the line were also very nice and very accomplished but the judge had her choice and I couldn't see anything wrong with it - after all only one person could be first - if it was allowed I'd have had the first two joint first, but it's not - so that's the way it goes and that was reflected by her having these two ch and res ch.
The large class looked more problematical. There were some nice hacks in it, but the typier ones were green and didn't really go - some might have been better off doing the novice class, but what with that insatiable desire for a HOYS ticket etc.....
I wouldn't have had the same line up as the judge in the larges, but I wasn't in the ring and I certainly wouldn't say that the result was bad - I think that's very unfair to say on both competitor and judge.

Thanks for the marks do you have anyother ones further down as we were but couldnt stay for marks and would love to know? if u liked colorado enough to pull it in top it did nothing wrong and got a much better conformation mark than bentley! bentley was not even pulled in after the go round, then to suddenly come up to win was a bit odd especially as its show was not worthy of those marks compared to others!! dont know all the marks but know that the first 6 all ranged between 80 and 83 so very close! theres so many good ponies still to qualify in the shts, i think only 1 out of the whole had already qualified and there was over 20 in it!

To be honest why anyone wants to be a ride judge is beyond me! Its a risky job, not very well paid and then you come on here and all you can do is slag the judges off. Rachel judged the Hack classes fairly, as she saw it on the day, particularly how the horses rode. She may well have disguised a green ride because she is such a good rider. At the end of the day thats showing and everyone has their own opinion.

from what i could see i thought bentley did a brilliant show, one of the best gallops in the class yes but so did the ist horse that did a foot perfect show also, and a good gallop but for somthing to come up from so far down the initial line up to win that was all i was saying. just my opinion, and i didnt even get placed and i did a good show etc !!

Thanks for the information Balancing Figure (Guest) but I feel you are having a go at me. If you read the whole thread you will see the only thing I have said is to ask someone to post all the results. Surely, this is much fairer to the judge and competitors than to allow people to say the judging was cr*p without any explanation?

Hi Tuppence - BF was just me but I couldn't be bothered to log on! I had read the thread and knew what you were trying to find out about the class - result and why people were moaning. I was just trying to counterract what people had said that came on subsequently, as I thought it was harsh - not at all fair on judge or those that did well in the classes.
It was in no way having a go at you and I'm sorry you saw it that way.

Thanks Angelica - Eloise is getting so keen and was so pleased to win three cups that she took them all to bed on Saturday night and brought them all down on Sunday and then duly washed them all!! She is really looking forward to the Champs and riding Angelica.

On reflection, I did wonder if it was you but I am so used to getting flamed on this forum I thought I'd better defend myself. I don't really know what went on at Mid-Herts but the horses that were up the line had all qualified for RIHS so Miss Heliwell can't be the only judge in the country that thinks they are OK!

well just replying from more confused and i just wanted to say that the first 13.2 was dropped because it popped into canter on the first corner in its show for about seven strides so you obviously werent watching the class or paying attention to the shows .

Katie Carter was leading the winner of the LR SHP. I think it had her daughter on board as well although don't quote me on that.
