I thought it was ridiculous where they had to stand in that little corner waiting to do their show was obvious with the atmosphere, size of horses etc something could/would happen. Just feel so sorry for the young girl to go clear and then not to be able to her show through no fault of her own especially as there was only 9 clears and she would definetly have been placed.
I saw Laurence Llewlyn-Bowen coming out of the revolving door of the Hilton on Saturday afternoon, lol! Didnt want to see Katie Price either but walked past at the wrong time, lol!! She is so tiny thought she would be tall for some reason.

The star for the future must surely be the youngest pony in the championship, Dancing Hero . At 148 and 6 years old and ridden by granny ,as well as placed or winning at BSJA,BSPS and RC champs, surely there is no competition.Well done Eli and Hero.

The horse that wasn't forward, because it was eliminated for fidgeting after Park Lane was kicked, was ridden by poor Jessica Andrews-Gayler - they were understandably devastated!! Just to clarify what happened, Park Lane was kicked going into the ring after the horses where stopped by a steward causing them to bunch up in the tunnel, one panicked and kicked Park Lane, but it was an accident and was NOT Larcens Leap. In the ring a steward noticed the blood on Park Lane asked what happened & Abi told him it was an accident and in no way indicated Larcens Leap (as it wasn't the pony that kicked him). Once out the ring Abi told the stewards again it was nothing to do with Larcens Leap but they said it was eliminated due to bad behaviour in the line up. As soon as she came out from doing her show, the HOYS vet came to check on his leg to make sure he was ok. Terry Pattinson was a real star & let Abi leave the ring early to go straight to the vets with the horse - He's been x-rayed & there's no serious damage!!

Glad to hear no permenant damage to Park Lane and I am sure that Jessica will have no permanant damage either. I find it amazing that any horse behaved well under the circumstances but being eliminated for fidgeting! The atmosphere is electric and the barging about of some riders did make quite a few horses upset. She just got the brunt end I think.

Bundle and Agent - agree, agree, agree! As with the m&m workers, these courses don't need to be higher/wider, but far more interesting - and it really shouldn't be that difficult to organise.
As for the measuring - according to the catalogue there were 21 entries in the 133 section. Of these, 10 of them were exactly 133cm! Amazing! 4 were 132 point something and 2 were 131. And if you stand any of them up against what a pony clubber calls 133, there would be no comparison. I have recently bought a pony in Ireland and had the height checked and re-checked. Although she comes in at 12.3, she looks like a tiny little dot by comparison to her potential rivals.
In the 143cm section, we had 20 entries. Can you guess what 11 of these measured? 4 more measure 142 or 142 point something.
Call me cynical, but I find it pretty bizarre that nature produces so many ponies bang up to height in each section, and when they stand next to each other, well, that's when you REALLY start to wonder!
Now just in case you are thinking that God just particularly favours 133, 143 etc etc, let's look at the heights in the show pony classes. Because He actually prefers numbers finishing in an 8 for these, (perhaps He is on the BSPS Council, in disguise!) 27 entries in the 128 class, and of the 25 who state their heights, a magical 15 are 128cm. Of course, these could be because the people making the entries just round the height off, but still, if their certificates really do show these heights, there is a large question mark forming in my mind....

Sorry to be dim geegee - which was yours? Yes, there will be lots of new partnerships next year - the old established ones like Silver Fox should have a good head start (what a season he's had) and there are some fab 13 handers on the market at the moment. What happened to M. Jolyon today? Don't all scream but personally I'd quite like to see Pavarotti retire now - he's done it all this year (again) and it would be sad to see him deteriorate... Tetcott Paper Boy was ours. We really enjoyed HOYS this year, especially as Aimee wasn't well in the run up and is still not right! There will still be some great current 133 partnerships for next year, but so many seem to be out of class too (seems more than last year). I just think that the end of HOYS is tinged with a bit of sadness for me, as we say goodbye and move on to the next class. We have had such a good time and really enjoyed it. Aimee has made so many friends, and even though alot of them live so far away, modern communications mean that she text and facebooks them all the time. So, good luck to all those moving on!!

Yes it was a shame that she was sent out as it wasnt her horse that started it all. I would have been very upset as well. The Lyons do a fab job with their workers I was very impressed with the Cheshire riders as lots of them were placed in their respective classes. Looks like Cheshire is the capital of workers! Callum Barnes, Emily Ward, Sasha and Jo Shaw in Warrington. Well done to Jo I really felt for you yesterday after the recent tragic events. My heart did go out to you! Thank you very much.. thank you to everyone for all there help and support over the last few weeks.. and especially at HOYS..i was really pleased with how my horse went and my end result.. i i dnt think i could i gone with out all your help. Thank again.. and well done to every1 competing this year.

Amazing. Then compare them all as they walk along the ringside next to the barrier - even more amazing. Complete array of heights It wouldn't be difficult to weed out the problems

surely if it measures 133 143 153 or 158 whatever class if thats the maximum and thats what the horse measures then surely its eligible for the class just cos its bang on doesnt mean its over height?? sorry if im wrong but if it measures it measures if it doesnt it doesnt

Yes, of course jps - but don't you think it's strange how many of them measure exactly? I think the point that's being made is that if the classes were suddenly changed to 132,142 etc, would those same ponies suddenly all be the top of that new height?

Artistic, you could not have put it better in your last entry.. Do you think that when it comes to entering a pony on an entry form owners can not be bothered to put their animals height at (only an example) 132.8, does it look better in the catalogue as 133 bearing in mind judges are not encouraged to look in the catalogue before juding? Or are exhibitors obsessed with their animal being up to height from a selling point of view. Taking into account the 2009 showing season I rather think not. No one will want to purchase an animal now unless, on an annual they measure under with shoes ON!!
