I don't know the whys & where fours of what's happened to NPS Area 17 Committee, although there is plenty of gossip & speculation around the area, i'm a 17 member. What ever's happened is a real shame & i hope those left, you all come on here, prove the gossips wrong. That you aren't just in it for self gain & that you all have the best interests of the area at heart & not your own. Area 17 has lost an excellent Chairman, President & several committee members, one of these an NPS Council member. The area is currently being run by four people two each from the same family!!!! As 17 so tragically lost their show Secretary, that only leaves the committee to organise the show, judges etc. Don't think Ladbrokes would take a bet as to whether the remaining committee will be competing at the show or not!! One of them is a particularly good judge for the secretary

You mean both of them are good judges for them.
To have any credibility the new committee at area 17 would be wise not to show at their own show this year. Just my thoughts on the matter.

My wife was on the committee for a number of years traveling to meetings getting home late, helping at the shows, etc, etc. It is not easy to get judges, equipment and especially helpers for stewarding at these shows. When you come on to sites like this and see the hurtful comments people who for some reason are to afraid to put there real names forward, is it any wonder committee members resign and stop giving up their own free time to help put on shows for all of us to enjoy. Anyone of you who would like to give up your free time and help at these events I am sure the committee would very much like to hear from you (real names please). Terry Capon

Terry. I think you may be off the mark a bit here. I am sure the good people that threw the towel in at area 17 did not do so because of this site.

Nelly Why did they throw the towel in? Who is the person who overheard the "plotting"? I know that the show is going ahead and why shouldn't it.

Seem to remember that the same thing happened to the previous chairman of area 17, ousted by the same people for the same reasons.

I've watched this thread since it started and there seems to be alot of speculation, revving up of the same and very little fact. None of us in the outside world will ever obtain the facts that have resulted in these resignations as it all occured behind the closed doors of a committee room and should remain there. And remember there are always two sides to every story.
One fact I am aware of, if this site continues in the vein that it is, consistently slagging off judges, area committee members and show committees in general then we will have no shows or organisations at all to run the competitions that we regularly subscribe to.
Start taking a reality check people -- I have shown for over 33 years, taking the rough with the smooth. You pay your money, you take the chance -- showing has always been and will always be subjective -- if you think a judge is facey or dodgy -- don't go under them -- if you want to take the chance then grab it with both hands!! You never know you may get lucky!
Good luck to those who get out there and do -- and those who wish to continue to whinge -- stay at home and reflect on what you may have missed!
Life is never perfect -- but we are only here once -- so make the most of it!!

I think there are one or two people who feel aggrieved from area 17 and are just trying to make mischief. Good luck to the new committee whoever they are.

I know this isn't exactly an ideal world but lets not jump on Bandwagon and assume the worst in everyone !
At least until someone comes on the forum and tells everyone the cold hard facts of what has happened and who's left and who stayed, i think it would be only right that people re severe judgment on whether the remaining committee members are just in it for their own ends!

I agree that there are two sides to every story and what ever has happened has happened for a reason and no doubt area 17 will move on regardless. I don’t however agree with some of your statements. There are plenty judges mentioned on hear in a fair manner and are regarded highly by people that post. Also you are always going to get more people post who have a gripe than have praise. That is also a fact of life. And finally the people that whine have obviously felt hard done to or seen blatant bad judging or why would they bother to post.

I think that It's quite clear from this thread that everyone on here seems to know EVERYONE in the showing world and would then themselves find it difficult to pick a judge for their show that they never knew. I think a lot of people don't actually know how much hard work it is to book judges and often this has to be done years in advance as it is so difficult. I think that to insinuate that somebody knows judges etc etc underminds the judges, as well as the commitee members, who so happily give up their free time to make sure everyone has an enjoyable show
Good luck NPS area 17, who ever you are and who ever is judging at your show!!

Area 17 Committee is very strong, thriving and working hard for our Area. The President has not resigned.
In spite of difficulties caused by Sue Varlet’s death our Summer show is on course with HOYS and NPS/PUK qualifiers. Schedules will be available hopefully in the next 4 weeks, but we will post on here when they can be downloaded.
As someone said, in spite of having what I would class as two very good judges, I was never going to and will not be competing, I had decided to give up my time to be Show Secretary, not that I would ever be able to replace Sue. Some judges were already obtained by Sue and the balance by my mother. The committee had no input or contact with the judges.
One of our championships will be dedicated to Sue Varlet where a memorial trophy will be presented. So do all come along and have a lovely enjoyable day.
Regarding all the speculation on the thread most of it is exaggerated hearsay and not correct. I, nor our committee will comment any further as committee business is for the committee, not to be discussed on as public forum.
For those posted as Area 17 members if you have any queries or concerns please contact me by email at info@follywoodstud.com or call me on 07795 680605 and I will be happy to speak to you.

All I wish to say is good luck to the remaining members it will be very hard to run a show with only four but I am sure it will be a lovely day and I think we should praise people for taking time out to help the NPS if we didn't have them we would have no shows. Good Luck area 17.
