That's tough luck, you can check the results online and watch it on the telly. If you are not there you won't be tempted to spend loads of money.

My friend has qualified his spaniel for the working dog section, so he is merrily teaching the dog to go on a lead now.... seems a bit daft to me.....surely a working dog doesnt need a lead...

ponymum,in the enviroment the Spaniel is used to ,ie a working situation, then a lot of people keep the use of a lead to a minimum, but in the NEC with hundreds of people and other dogs, the noise, false lighting,a lead is a must for all dogs when not on their bench.

No Suzee, you missed my point, why have a working dog class, then judge it as a show class on the lead

Sorry ponymum ,i assume your friends dog is entered in the Gamekeepers classes, which are traditionally popular to promote dogs used primarily in a working situation,so they are judged to the breed standards as show classes to prove that good working dogs can also be good examples of their breed,as unfortunately some breeds have split into working type and show type, this tries to redress the balance.

I love the photos of your dog, is it a leonburger sorry cant spell, I thought about getting this breed so I could train it for a disability assistance dog, but wasn't sure about the size. so opted for a ladradoodle, which has worked out fine. but still have a yearning for a big dog.
how did you do at crufts.
