Hi there,
About a year ago I bought Dubarry boots. I have cleaned and dubbed these boots at least three times per week and in my opinion, looked after them well. They still look quite good, but have now started leaking across the toes, seems to be through the seams.
Im really dissapointed with this and wondered if anyone else had the same problems and if anyone had returned their boots to Dubarry and what the outcome was.
I have a good mind to send them off and demand a new pair that dont leak. I actually bought them because of the twit standing in the bucket, maybe his were less than a year old!!
Your comments please ladies and gents!!

Yep, I'm on my third pair in 4.1/2 years. However I use mine for mucking out and they're worn daily. I'm sure I read somewhere that Dubarry claim that the boots will not withstand horse urine and will eventually rot if the urine is allowed to penetrate into the boot. I've never sent a pair back but I do know of someone who did and she got a replacement pair but this was done a long, long while ago. Because mine are used & used I just accept that nothing lasts forever.

My Dubarry boots are 5 years old and still perfect but since I bought them they have changed their manufacturers to China hence the quality going rapidly down. They used to be made in Ireland.

I have had my dublins for 2 years now - worn them every day to walk dogs, muck out, ride etc and naughtily not looked after them and they are still going strong - and they are a third of the price of dubarrys

Send them back, explain how disappointed you are- they are keener to replace than argue....very nice Irish fella you get to speak to too- You can of course, and should, do this through your retailer. The "twits" are generally a nice bunch and Dubarry does stand by it's claims I have seen- some other makes are apalling and the wait is so long it's not worth it! x

sounds like the stitching has rotted due to the constant cleaning.... Dont suppose you used any sort of proofing for this area? to send them back now would be a waste of time. Esp if you havent looked after them the way Dubarry say you should....

Definately send them back especially if they are only a year old the worst they can do is decide that the boots arent faulty and then send them back to you but with my experience of Dubarry (I work for a retailer) they are usually very good and will look to repair them.

OK, will send them back. I have dubbed them. Kept them clean and not used them for any kind of wee activity either. I shall give them a call and see what they say. They are in great condition apart from leaking at the toes. Theres no splits, no damaged leather, nothing I can see, so maybe its seeping in through the soles.
Thanks for your help.

I would try waterproofing them first in case you have looked after them too well Dubarry sell a pack of 3 products for looking after their boots - I bought one when I got my boots and have only used them about 3 times in total (my boots are year old too). I have avoided wearing mine for mucking out due to the urine effect, but can't say I've looked after them and they are still fine. My issue is that the stupid lining slips down at the heel and can make them really annoying when I put them on I've heard very mixed stories about their customer service - seems to have declined since the days the boots were made in Ireland, but possibly because their complaints have quadrupled! Allegedly the boots used to be stitched, but are now glued.

Guestless- the lining slipping you mention is an issue with Dubarrys and some other makes of boots- in all the case I saw, Dubarry dealt witht he situation well IMHO. The boots are made in Portugal now I believe ( would love to find the factory and see if there are any market stalls around!)x
