Murphy's Horse Laws
There is no such thing as a sterile barn cat. No one ever notices how you ride until you fall off. The least useful horse in you barn will eat the most, require shoes every four weeks and need the vet at least once a month. A horse's misbehavior will be in direct proportion to the number of people who are watching. Your favorite tack always gets chewed on, and your new blanket gets torn. Tack you hate will never wear out and blankets you hate cannot be destroyed. Clipper blades will become dull when your horse is half clipped. If you approach within fifty feet of your barn in clean clothes, you will get dirty. The number of horses you own will increase to the number of stalls in your barn. Your barn will fall down without baling twine. Hoof picks always run a way from home. If you fall off, you will land on the site of your most recent injury.

all sadly true my hoof picks run away regularly my most hideous blanket is indestructible and my horses will only mis-behave if they have an appreciative crowd to cheer them on

Just like a newly-bathed horse will always go roll in the dirt Only white parts of the coat attract stable stains A horse offered for sale will automatically go lame or start coughing The needle you had threaded in readiness for plaiting vanishes into thin air Horsebox batteries go flat the night before a show - golly, there's loads!

There always seems to be a mane comb under the seat of your car... Or in front of the gear stick

So true - A friend had come to see my horses the other week and I offered her a ride on my cob, she declined saying that she was a nervous rider. I commented that he "isn't nasty, doesn't buck, worst he'll do is offer canter without being asked" - 2 minutes later said pony decides to do his bucking bronco impression and very nearly deposits me. So much for "doesnt buck!"

This made me laugh - been there and done it!! Once had someone come to look at a pony - I had told them as soon as you call she canters across to meet you - what did she do - b**gger off in the opposite direction!! Once fell down some steps at work and the contents of my bag spilled out in front me - mane comb, hoof pick, plaiting cotton and needle plus lots of other horse related bits!! We are all bonkers!
