Hi Jebidiah - nope no the same pic, the one related to me was in a field. Police unable to blow up the pix to gain the chassis number best bet is via the BACS - relates to account Barclays in London thanks mollymalone and police tracing that first. Only issues may be if account is shared etc and finding a person/s responsible for this which by their admission can get messy!!! Frustrations are that ebay have all the info but disregrding as criminal matter only to be persued by the police. Naturally with hindsight should have googled the secure invoice I just investigated via ebay which looked ok... Thanks for the hope mall - brilliant gives me something to cling to!! Apparantly trailers, walkers and things without reg documents are big business and also advised of trailer cloning where the thief makes a plate on the vin reg off an original trailer and makes lots of copies so to check all reg plates match to the chassis numbers. Dont feel silly, ncallaghan I would have probably done the same - just believing people are genuine all your messages do restore more confidence thank you xxx

I am so very, very sorry for you. You sound so dignified and a lovely person. It disgusts me to the core how these evil scammers prey on decent people like you. I wish you well for the future and sincerley hope that you recover all of your hard earned money. x

I am so sorry can't believe some people. My friend brought her trailer of ebay since bringing it home she has seen it advertised on ebay another 3 times has reported it to ebay but they take so long to remove the itmes from listings, and also to the police. It is a Bateson Ascot with purple buckets in the front window do not buy if you see it it is a scam.
While she was looking she was about to buy a trailer with buy it now but all of a sudden someone had brought it and then left bad feedback, it was someone selling a trailer they had just sold via ebay.

So sorry Tillyfloss that is such bad news! I hope they get caught and their dangly bits ripped off and posted on YouTube. Well, maybe not. Anyway I hope they get caught and locked up. E-bay is rife for scammers. Like ncallaghan I was scammed for a digital camera by Nigerians with an address in America that turned out to be a plumbing shop. When the mails started to arrive asking for the camera to be sent to Nigeria and they would pay more than the auction price the bells started to ring. Not only that the grammer and spelling on the fake e-bay invoices they started to bombard me with was laughable. If you Google it you will immediately learn about the scam. Every time a mail arrived we just laughed our socks off and ignored it and eventually they gave up. However, it's the inconvenience that is the problem because you have to go through the whole process of readvertising it again and getting your costs back from e-bay.Also, you have to put restrictions on future sales i.e. no one can bid with less than say five purchases history. As for buying, guess you should Google first to see what scams are going on out there before putting in a bid. You will be surprised how many and if in any doubt do not bid and go and buy a high price item from a bonafide dealer or through someones recommendation. As I said Tillyfloss, I am so very sorry for the loss of your hard earned cash. We live in a cruel world.

A friend of mine recently sold a diamond ring on eBay. The buyer asked for a buy it now price and said he would pay cash on collection. My friend was a little concerned about the cash (to the tune of 15k) but was taking her husband and meeting at an airport so thought cameras/security would be ok. 2 hours before the arranged meet time the buyer called to ask if it would be ok if he brought a bankers draft instead - my friend thought it a better option (silly girl) and agreed! They met, handed over the ring and the draft was paid into the bank. Guess what, yes a dodgy bankers draft!!! She was gutted!!! eBay wouldn't help as they hadn't followed the process through and basically said tough.. The police were involved and they managed to track down bank details and eventually found the perpetrators! The ring and money have gone but she does have the satisfaction that they didn't get away with it.. Personally, I would never sell/buy anything to this sort of value on eBay bu if you do, be very careful. Tillyfloss, I do hope the authorities are able to help and you get some sort of justice...

Just a reminder to everyone . . e-bay actually owns PayPal. Also, there is definitely a scam around as stated in a previous listing here that unscrupulous buyers are putting in false claims for non receipt of goods and e-bay then immediately freeze the amount of the transaction on your PayPal account. Then e-bay pay you're money to the buyer without you being able to do anything about it if they believe the buyers story. End result, buyer gets your goods and their money back as well! Great eh! So beware, always send goods on recorded delivery no matter whether high or low priced item. They're out there . . just waiting to relieve you of your hard earned cash with a myriad of scams and don't expect too much assistance from e-bay either.

I really hope you get to the bottom of this. Have you found the police helpful or not? I had all my tack stolen & the police have been completely useless!!! I managed to find one of my saddles on ebay & the police did nothing. I ended up having to sort it myself til the police eventually took over & 5 months later I'm no further on, even though I know who stole it!! Mel xx

Me 2 Mel!! The police have been helpful to a degree, statements, victim support etc...then nothing gmp do promise to update every month so we shall see...I did read somewhere they have to weigh up the risks/costs etc to the amount of resources that are put toward investigations of this type and the officer who came to do the statement in her opinion is a ton of paperwork involved just to ask for bank account details annoying when ebay hold all the info instantly. I also have been assigned a SPOC (special officer in charge) ha ha who as yet has not introduced himself to me hmmm... So sorry to hear about your saddles that is truely pants..presume proving who took it beyond reasonable doubt with evidence is the reason? There are days when the justice system that admittedly I have dealt with a handful of times in the last 20 years for positive reasons do not always appear to be on our side...xx

About time the police put some pressure on ebay with this person. I got done too in July. Cash went to Barclays account in Leicester. Obviously this person is making a real good living out of other peoples hard earned cash. Hope anyone done by this ..... gets their cash back, but I don't hold out much hope.

This is FRAUD, pure & simple. It's disgusting. I hope the people who've lost goods/cash get justice. And I hope the people who scammed them get justice as well. The sort where they decide not to do it again.

Beware of tractors on ebay - we found one, wanted to go up to Scotland to see it - they said no we could'nt, they are stolen to order is the other scam! HOWEVER we did find one, went and paid cash for it and brought it home - so ebay is not all bad.

I had a similar experience with a red 506 on ebay being sold at a bargain price, in London. I am in lancashire andwanted to collcet the trailer myself and pay cash on collection. I asked for a phone number but got an email saying the seller was deaf and could only communicate via email. They sent me the same ebay invoice saying paypal payment was not possible and payment had to be made via BACS. Needless to say I didn't pay and reported it to ebay. Though the seller was never banned.

Disgusting.
Just to add - I have seen that photo of the silver box in other advertisements - so don't know if this is a more widespread scam X
Your bank should be able to stop the payment if it was bacs X Hope you get your money back. We have just had our trailer collapse due to being cheated on the service and it is awful.

I am another that says DONT USE PAYPAL thinking you are covered! My husband and I have had three instances now where neither eBay nor paypal were any help at all. Paypal does not really cover you for anything when the chips are down!

Thata so scary that a personal account can be hacked, I tried to personally obtain details of the fraudster through contacting people that had dealt with and sold goods to them in the last month...surprisingly with the data protection act no one would give anything away...but then if people can hack your account whats' the point??
