I am glad in a way they did do that so she is now being looked after well by the sanctuary. Imagine where she would be now if they kept her.....

I agree but it still just amazes me that people take on the responsability of owning a horse but are not prepared for vet bills or don't bother insuring their horses/ponies.

There should be an actual licence for owning any animal and in some cases for having children!

I do actually agree with the licence for animals ... Not like some test impossible to pass, but basic nutrition, health etc and also prove you can afford the vet bills if you don't plan to insure. There would never be anyway to make some thing like that stick though.

Aw this is awful but so many horses getting dumped a load of ponies came over from Ireland to sales other week and just got left
