Its not very hard tbh, we have 14 that stay in and the rest stay out all year. Winter is harder than summer but it is for everyone. We have them all at home tho so it easier

I picked 7 because that's how many I have at home. 3 are owned, 3 home bred, and one on loan to us. I also own two more which are out on loan, and have just sold one home bred youngster but keep forgetting he isn't meant to be here and wondering where he has gone.

6 - only 4 at home though and only 2 stabled atm. one is out on grass keep and one is out at a pony club friends being ridden by their son. 2 of the 6 are on loan to us.
TBH its as easy or as hard as you make it. we feed haylege in a feeder topped up daily and we have mats in the stable and use cushionbed. we use only 2 types of feed so dont have loads to mess about with. rugs are taken off daily but we dont tend to swap stable/outdoor rugs with the ones that are in - we dont have drying facillities and they dry better on anyhow.
It helps having our own land and not on livery as we can please ourselves. not sure i would like 6 on livery

What I don't understand is how do you manage feet alone when you've 30+ horses/ ponies you must have a farrier permenantly on the yard I struggle with my 6 at home I seem to have the farrier there nearly every week!

He only lives down the road so i send him a text to say i have couple who want doing and he rings me when he has a minute on his way home. only 2 are in regular work as the other two are youngsters.

None of my ponies are shod only the 2 horses but they are trimmed every 4-6 weeks I can't imagine leaving them 3-4 months don't you have problems with cracking?

Trim them myself, had a good farrier years ago who spent a lot of time showing me what to do. Doing the shelties now though is a bit of a strain on my back so turn them upside down like they do with the sheep.
JOKING!!!! but yes do them myself.
