you sound so sad, and i really feel for you xx there is an old saying which i know is very corny but it may help "it is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all" you obviously have lovely lovely memories of her, so always think of her and smile, then dust yourself down and stride on! there will be another horse out there somewhere who is begging for someone like you to love it. xx

Been there James, and can empathise with how you feel.
A tragic happening, bringing as it does the feeling of vulnerability and because so little is known, often feelings of guilt. The loss is hard to bear, and the if only thoughts difficult to come to terms with.
RIP Molly. You were much loved. Sympathy and hugs jameshorse.

Grass sickness is a awful and devastating disease I lost my small hack mare Pendley Scintillation to this last year. Absolutely heartbreaking

Most people who have been around horses have lost at least one at some time or other, you cannot blame yourself because Grass Sickness is almost always fatal no matter what you do. I lost a yearling to wobbler and a two year old I have has malignant melanoma and will die young as well. Now that is truly heartbreaking to watch her growing up knowing she has an evil cancer developing inside her. Your pony didn't know what was going to happen to her, she was sad because she was in pain, euthanasia is painless it ended her suffering. Don't blame yourself I know someone who lost a fabulous 6 year old stallion to Grass Sickness last year she had him from three weeks old and she was basing her entire future around him, she worked in studs and ran her own small stud his loss decimated her but although he was rushed to Leahurst very quickly they could NOT save him. Grieve your pony but don't blame yourself. There are so many horses and ponies out there desperate for good homes.
