Yes I got them today, quite a bit different to last year, fine if you are well off but not so good for the rest of us that are feeling the pinch but would still like to contribute a bit towards the show and have indoor stables

I do agree above it is rather a lot per pony. We cant sponsor this year due to the price increase. And same as above we would like to sponsor but then classes ect on top just can't do it. We will Deffo be there though x

havent received my package yet but can only assume prices of sponsorship have risen partly due to the fact that the indoor stables were over-subscribed in 2011

£200 get you the option of 2 indoor stables £400+vat gets you 4 indoor stables and it goes up from there.
So it will cost you £200 per pony for an indoor stable

I too anm hugley disapointed in huge increase in sponsoring and the drop in number of boxes you can get when doing so , indoor boxes will work out at £220 and that is if the cost of the box doesnt also increase we took four last year but as we need indoors due to stallions we will only be taking two this year as we simply cannot afford the increase very disapointing ,i always favoured equifest over puk due to the situation with booking indoor boxes but seems its going the same way and only the very well off are going to be able to afford it soon such a shame .

havent received my package yet but can only assume prices of sponsorship have risen partly due to the fact that the indoor stables were over-subscribed in 2011 with a £50 increase in sponsoring an open class and a drop from 8 stables to 2 stables allowed its just so huge and increase

also talking to people its cheaper to sponsor and get stables with puk than equifest, it is a shame i hope maybe for the 2013 year they change it back to how it was then they will get more sponsorships i do hope they have not put up the normal stables up to much

Thank you for your comments so far. Unfortunately we have had to increase the cost of sponsorship - due to the fact that we have more potential sponsors than sponsors stables - and this is the only way to regulate the stables and (hopefully) prevent the huge amount of trading of stables between exhibitors that we had this year. We are aware that it unfortunately hits some of our most loyal sponsors the hardest - and we would be happy to discuss individual cases - if people would like to contact us when we are back in the office next week. We have listened very carefully to all comments - and have put in measures for 2012 that we hope will eradiate 99% of the stabling problems that we had in 2011. This will result in far increaseed security, more stable management staff, more parking staff and wristbands for some stabling areas - to ensure that nobody is able to put horses in stables that have not been allocated to them. This will mean that our cost of stabling has to increase - but we hope that exhibitors will appreciate the benefits. Entry fees/membership fees are NOT not being increased though - so we hope that Equifest will continue to be seen as "good value". We have put a plan of the showground & stabling areas on the Equifest website - www.equifest.org.uk. The stabling is mostly confined to the "Blue" stables in the North of the showground and Red / Pink day & Indoor stables on the south. The Blue & Red stables will be arranged within a "compound" so they are not spread out as much - allowing more parking and more electrical hook ups - particularly in the Blue area. The red stables will be for Equifest members only. Duration stables will be available from Tuesday - Monday - to allow for classes starting on Wednesday afternoon. Betsy Branyan

Betsy Branyan Thank you for the explanation Betsy but it still seems huge and a first come first served is the fairest solution to over subcription along with a no resale save through your office rule, this huge increase is definatley favouring the more well off, producers and sponsored competitors who can better afford the huge increases ,I wouldnt feel comfortable with our stallions in a temp box and another of ours is very nervous and cannot be kept under canvas so we feel we have no option if we want to come but to suffer the increase the affordability over puk indoor and sponsorship costs is what attracted us to attend equifest for the past few years what a shame its now going the same way as puk makes me very sad

Thank you Betsy ;D I do agree with cayo on this, surely first come first serve is the only fairest option available. I booked and payed for my stable way back in March to secure it, this was before I'd even bought my boy, I knew I'd miss out if I left it. If anyone needs to re sell their stable then it should be done through the office then there's no profit to be made on them. I have had to look at what shows I can afford to attend next year and I would love to come to Equifest again but it all looks too expensive

For a newbie how much do the stables normally cost and then do you add the sponsorship on top of that?

For a newbie how much do the stables normally cost and then do you add the sponsorship on top of that? in past years, you pay for your sponsorship and this entitles you to apply and pay extra for indoor stabling so yes, indoor stables cost more on top of the sponsorship ... we havent received our 2012 Equifest package yet so cant say how much each indoor stable is going to cost this time round but think it was £120 per indoor stable in 2011 (then s'ship extra)

jigsaw if you sponsor one class at £200 you get to book 2 indoor stables so if they are £120 as last year thats costing you a whopping £220 per stable out door ones were £100 last year its a huge increase

I am afraid that way beyond our limits thats making them £250 a box that would really eat into the entry money we set a side and many others i am sure

So are the temp stables not suitable for a stallion? Was planning on coming equifest this year but I cant afford the indoor stables and I want to be sure my boy will be safe in a temp one??

I stabled my stabled a stallion the year before last in the red area, and to be honest had no problems. There were a few gaps here and there where the boxes fixed together and he could touch noses with his neighbour but i just covered them over with cardboard and electrical tape. I think it mainly depends on your stallion.

To answer your questions about the size of stables.... The Indoor stables are all Radford stables and are all 10 x 10 stables. The rest of the stables will be a mixture of Radford stables and the French stables. Most of these will be 10 x 10 - but there will be some larger stables in the blue and red areas. Stallions will be housed away from mares - providing the stable managers are told when you are booking in - and you complete the relevant section on the stabling form. Surprisingly, very few people tell us that the indoor stables are not strong/big enough for stallions but we often hear it said when they are put in the same stables outdoors...! The Radford stables are the ones that are used by the Shire Horse Society - and fully grown Shire stallions fit comfortably into them!! To confirm stabling prices, Indoor stables will be £150 and the outdoor duration stables will be £120. Stables will be available from Tuesday until Monday - which is a day longer than last year - so in effect there has not been a cost increase.
