Eh.....I DON'T THINK SO ! Do you have a receipt for the horses, stating the date of purchase ? (I have receipts for both of mine). Photocopy the receipt and the vets bill, (make a few copies). KEEP the originals yourself, and send a copy of each to the seller AND to the vet who's name/address is on the bill. Write a letter to the seller stating that as you bought the horses on X date (receipt is proof), you are NOT liable to pay this bill (photocopy is evidence of treatment PRIOR to you purchasing the horses),or any other costs, prior to your ownership of the horses. Send a copy of the receipt and the vet bill to the vet in question, with a letter stating that the seller has tried to pass the cost of this bill on to you, and that you bought the horses on X date. As the vets bill is for treatment (injections) going back 10 MONTHS, the vet will have to take this up with the seller to recover the money owed. I'd maybe even ask for advice at CAB, or a lawyer. It seems very like the seller is trying to dodge paying the vets bill.

I wouldn't even bother going to the CAB or getting a lawyer!
As long as you have proof of purchase he is making himself look like a total moron. Let him.

you don't need any proof of purchase, he called his vet to do the injections so the vet will charge him for them, they won't come chasing you for the money as you didn't ask them to come! simples

I'm with bow on this one.... The vets will b chasing him for the bill not you! I'd just post it back to him saying that your not paying the bill as its from before you purchased the ponies!! Maybe he has ran out of money for Xmas!

I wouldn't even waste my time responding to him, what a twit! Takes all sorts I suppose that really is laughable, poor chap wasn't first in the queue when brains were handed out was he? Modified to add - tell him he can come and get his injections back because you don't want them
