Have to say i said the day i found showing getting me angry i would stop. I am a little disappointed today and never really feel the need to grumble and gripe about judging but would like your opnions on this matter, put it this way, my other half never gets a bee in his bonnest of moans and judging but today he did.
When its a small child involved thats worked so hard, and mother for that fact, i think credit where credit is due.
I went in this class under a judge who i do know, expecting just a fair hearing. ( no favours just a honest fair hearing)
We know the childs riding is alot to be desired at present but a vast improvement.
4 in class, exepcted to do a set routine, comprising of 4 movements ( walk on long rein a halt a serpentine and something else i cant recall at the mo)
In the classes prior to mine she had been quite stringent on the movements.
Turnout wise we were faultless, dont get me wrong the others were better riders, but the one standing above me was terribly dirty as was 2nd, ( simple things) in comparison.
This class was to be judged 50% Riding ability and SHOW ( set moves)
50 % Turnout.
So how come first and second didnt do a set show and did their own, wrong but well ridden shows Surley that would incur deducations equivalant to a ok ridden but technically correct show, our pony stumbled once during show and flicked head once, never pulled around the rider.
I know for a FACT 1st and 2nd didnt even attempt the set show, My OH and others watched. we though at least we wont be last we were immaculate and treid the set routine.
I did mention nicley something like oh didnt the 1st 2 need to perform the set routine then upon being given our rosette, to be told she saw what she saw, she did praise little lad but said that he would be better when he was stering etc ( this is a Class called Lead rein Pony !! they shouldnt be steered as such they should be voice controlled, as was the first place, well ridden but not RIDDEN soley by child)
She didnt see what she saw, i watched closley, 1st and 2nd did not perform any set moves. I had at least another 4 eyes watching as encountered same prob under a different judge 5 years ago.
The more i think about it the more cross i feel, the fact that i feel stuff it i will not bother any more if you do not even get credit where credits due
surley the lack of the set moves equates to something thats even tried it though not ridden expertly ??
