I have posted this in here as I thought more people may see it and be able to advise me. Me and a friend are hoping to go to Equifest on Saturday 18th and are completely stumped on the whole thing. We seem to have decided our classes and don't need to be staying over so was thinking of booking the pink day stables. How do I go about booking them? Also when should we book them by and how much are they? What time are you allowed to get your stables as we would be getting there early morning. Also is it expensive to buy refreshments? (if it is we would take our own) and should we take our own hay or can we buy it there? Sorry to sound thick but we have only ever shown locally! We are really excited to be going and just want it to run smoothly so any tips on booking early, times to get there before classes etc would be appreciated very much! Thank you

Hi Carrie
You are not being dim! These shows can take some getting your head around when going for the first time.
You would book your stables through Equifest, if you want them you would probably need to book them very early as they soon fill up. If you go to the equifest website or look in equifest chat on here you will also find some tips. The rates are changing for this year so you would need to check with Equifest.
You would need to allow plenty of time before your classes so you can familiarize your self with the showground layout, take your map with you! Allow time for working in etc.
With regards to refreshments, yes there are stands there selling food and drinks, burger vans etc. Take some drinks with you at least, if its hot (let's hope!!) you will need plenty of drinks to keep you going!!
Have fun, you will enjoy it.X

sorry to jump on your thread! but are you required to book a day stable, or is it fine if you are within driving distance to have horses tied to the box like at any other one day show? thanks

Thank you for that Karen, I will give Equifest a ring and see if they can sort me a stable out It's a big show so going to make sure we are well in time for the hroses to settle!! We are 3 hours away supercowpony and the welsh mare won't show off the box -.- it's just easier to have a stable so we know she won't hang herself in the box!!

Do you think it would be an idea to stay over on the Friday beforehand so it is less of a rush? The show can build up around the horses that way too I was thinking.
Is there anywhere to pitch up tents as we have a trailer not a box and there is 5 of us!

Hi again Carrie, I would check that with Equifest. There was talk after last years show that they would only be having duration stabling due to some naughty people causing havoc not leaving stables, nicking stables etc. Can't remember if day stabling was still being left but 2/3 nights was being cancelled. Check with them and see. They did say stabling would be able to book from March.
It is really good to go before if you can, much less stressful and great fun. There are plenty of tents put up so you won't have a problem there! Just make sure it is waterproof ;D Last year it was a bit of a tent graveyard after the deluge we had one night ;D

Tha's brilliant thank you for that I'll be sure to double check with equifest though about stabling, maybe they have enforced some new rules this year? I hope it doesn't rain !

I'm so excited about Equifest!! I've never been either but have decided it will be my summer holiday this year I'm taking Saffy and her little mini me. I'm hoping to be able to clean out the horsebox and sleep in there. I'm going to stink by the end of it

I'm taking the A colt and the D mare, can't wait We could have done that but there's a few of us and in the back of a trailer it could get, er, "cosy"! We have decided to go down Friday night if we can get stabling and come home Saturday night - I just hope the horses don't stress out in the stables!
