OMG, sorry but who is this prat who said its baloni that a good shine doesnt come from feeding? I DO NOT USE ANY FORM OF COAT SHINE OR OILS ON MY BOY BECAUSE HE HAS REACTIONS TO JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING!! I ALSO DO NOT GROOM DAILY AS MY LOT LIVE OUT MOST OF THE YEAR ROUND, QUICK FLICK BEFORE EXERCISE AND THE CORRECT FOOD IS ALL THEY GET FROM ME TO MAKE THE COATS SHINE!! AND BOY ARE MY LOT GLEAMING, YOU'D NEVER BELIEVE MY OLD tb MARE HASNT HAD A BATH SINCE AUGUST 2008!! SHE IS POSITIVELY GLOWING! sORRY I KEEP RESTING MY HAND ON THE CAPS BUTTON!! you can see your face in my ponies and i am proud of it, too bloody expensive all these potions anyway!! i also use morrisons own mild shampoo as its the only thing that doesnt bring my boy up in hive type lumps...less is def more, they look stupid with all that crap round their mush!!

We don't use any make up on ours. I would rather spend my money on good feed than waste it on make up. You can't beat a good natural shine, good grooming, and good feeding, and at least we know our ponies have been placed on their own merits, not because we've covered up imperfections with make up.

I think you should tell some of the lead-rein mums, that it is not necessary or attractive to cover themselves with two inches of MAKEUP !!!!!!
It looks GROSS. LOL

I don't need foundation these days, just underpinning, roll on 3 years and I can have my first lift, when you have more chins than a chinese phone book drastic measures are needed.

we hardly use any when we are doing M&M classes just a tiny bit of highlighter round eyes and muzzle and baby oil on they're hocks. in the shp we use a bit of black round the eyes and muzzle and again baby oil on the hocks. oh and obviously chalk on the socks but who doesn't use a fair amount.

Baby oil, vaseline and in fact most oil based products cause a blister if used too often and not washed off inbetween shows! Its not sun burn!! Be careful, I try and avoid any contact as these products are extremely difficult to remove even after dry cleaning!!!

I have bought the make up for my horse and tbh he almost looks like he has swollen eyes! It gets all over my hands and on clothes, so I've stopped using it! I don't see any problem using baby oil or other coat gloss products in evening performances or were there is no sun to burn them, but what you feed has a lot to do with how your horse shines. I will admit its alot easier to shine up a bay than a roan or palomino, like people have said elbow grease and the build up to the finished product, what you feed and how the horse is kept is paramount to its shine, if the horse is happy they will shine like hell!!!

I've found a fantastic product, brilliant for showing all colours, the more you use the better it looks, and judges love it. It's called 'ELBOW GREASE'!!!!! Where can i find this 'ELBOW GREASE' ;)lol We use a tiny bit of back on the muzzle and eyes BUT we put it on the night before so most of its off by morning And baby oil around the muzzle, eyes and on the knees. xxx

it dosnt matter how many PRODUCTS you apply, if the horse is not well fed, wormed and warm it will not look in show condition. Panda eyes do not look natural, maybe the owners should have gone to SPEC SAVERS!!!!!!!!!!! he , he, he..............

we put a bit of ordinary sunflower oil in their feeds to keep their coats shiny and a bit of coat shine. baby oil on black knees and hocks and a bit round the eyes&muzzle for M&M's,shp's a bit of black make up but still baby oil mainly as for M&M's and show ponies black make up on eyes and muzzle(not loads just enough) and baby oil on top and hocks and knees. thats all we've ever used alot of people do go over board with make up. for xmas shows we do tend to go a bit silly but christmas only comes once a year.

I alway find if you pull the loose skin back, apply a large bulldog clip to back of the head to hold it in place and apply a hat works every time, it does tend to give you the Joan Rivers startled rabbit look but hey, no wrinkles, half the price of of a face lift with the same affect.
