bbanks - the only information that is currently definite is that on the press release.
All further information will be posted on the websites & no doubt on HG as soon as it is all confirmed but that is unlikely to be until after the full committee meeting next week.
Please try to be patient everyone - when all the information is known, then we can answer questions correctly.

Noticed that is hasnt been put on here so, they are offering refunds for cancelled classes but only got to the 14 July to apply, in wiriting with SAE!! details on website, seems they have still failed to state what happens is you are unable to attend as the show clashes.

also they are taking £10 out of our money, sorry i dont think this is fair, they cancelled some classes on the sat and let others carry on. so why do we have to pay.......

Sorry kidside - I have had no details in the office so you will have to speak to Derbyshire committee members direct, as it is a branch matter.

£10 is a bit steep when it was not our fault with the weather either and not our fault if we cant make the new date.
Thought shows had insurance to cover ' cancelled ' matters .
Not happy either, i am busy that weekend of the new date but could get a pony there with a friend if willing to swap an entry but they wont do that either apparently.....

Buttons - the majority of shows do not have insurance to cover cancellation (or in this case mainly postponement) as the cost is astronomical & also has extremely tight conditions if it is weather related, before any claim would be met.
Likewise many showgrounds have large penalty clauses to make good any damage to the ground - despite what many may think, putting on any show with all the correct procedures in place is not a small financial venture.
I know many people think accounts & balance sheets are dull & boring but they do give you the costs & they are also what the affiliated societies & charities have to justify to their members.
Obviously I cannot speak for the unaffiliated shows which are run for profit - perhaps they are never asked for the breakdown of their income and expenditure.
These costs would also be much higher if the majority of the organisers & helpers at shows were not volunteers.

kidside, three weeks should be plenty of time for you to send in your refund application. perfect I believe I have answered many of your points on another thread. There seems to be so many threads on the go, that my head is spinning. It is not easy for us to swap entries on our new system, which we are still getting used to. Nothing is written in stone and we are trying to accommodate everyone BUT please don't ring to swap an entry simply because your horse or pony has already qualified, we do have an up to date list of qualifiers for all the classes that we run and previous qualification is not grounds for either a refund or a substitution. After all if DF had run and you had qualified, you would not have been ringing Cheshire or Lincoln for a refund. Echo what Janet has said re insurance, if only it were possible to insure against the weather ! We want to continue to run our shows and to do so, we have to have a cancellation fee, please check other schedules and you will find that almost all shows have them. If you consider it excessive and are a member, please attend our AGM, I can assure you, all points raised are discussed and voted on. Plus you would be able to see the accounts and gain an insight into exactly how much Derbyshire Festival costs to run. All refund applications for the rescheduled classes will be considered on an individual basis.

The phone number for Somerford Park is 01260 299888, please book all stabling and electric hook-ups directly with them, as the previous comment said Vanessa is lovely and extremely helpful. All the information is at the top of page 1 in the schedule.
