Due to the ground conditions, Hickstead WILL NOT be ready to take horse boxes before the original published time of 1000 Monday 16 July. If you are traveling from Kent county or similar and need local stabling then please look at our RIHS blog for contact details. Afternoon Ferret, the top field is ok when I last looked a week or so ago. I am going back tomorrow morning. We will be able to park all Top field stabling lorries there on hook up. I have now (with Hickstead Office) managed to secure some new hoo up lines in the main field down the concrete road which will be a bonus for all!
Activerider, I would suggest mid afternoon, we can (weather permiting) normally get people booked into Hickstead quite quickly. This will leave you enough time to find your stable, exercise, do evening feeds etc before going off and explore yourself while it is still light-good luck!

Hi Dougie. Hope you have not floated away. How do we get hook up? Three HGV's in our group are arriving on Monday morning and we would really love hook up for all 3. Any info gratefully received.
Are stables pre-allocated?

Mrs Gaunt, yes stables are pre allocated by Hickstead. Hook up available on arrival at my office. We have had twice the amount put in for this year so much more available!

All these rumours about the Bridge floating away, the main ring flooding etc etc ARE NOT TRUE. If you have any questions then please feel free to ask and help stop the negative gossip that is being passed around at shows this weekend by text and word of mouth!

The gates are now open and we we are driving a lot of lorries straight on. Please be patient if you have to wait on arrival. We want to get everyone onto the show as safely as possible without creating too much mess. The show must go on!!!
Hook up is £80 for the week.

Due to the wet ground there will be NO CARS allowed on the stable field. this is to help preserve the ground and limit the work burden on our tractors. There will be a riders/owners car park in the adjacent field. Please do not expect to be able to drive a car in to unload equipment/stores!!!

Is there a chance of the show been cancelled?
|
|
|
Post by WH Management Group on Jul 16, 2012 12:07:12 GMT
Mirth, as we stand the show is going ahead with the forcast currently available. This is being monitored at an hourly basis. There will be some class changes and the show will only be cancelled IF the weather deteriorates to a level which renders the rings, parking and welfare facilities to an unsafe level.

Hi Dougle, I know this sounds like a trivial question in the whole scheme of things but is quite important to us. First of all I want to applaud you all for the valiant effort you are all making to try and make this show a success despite the weather. The question I have is, we have a gazebo 3m x 6m which goes between the wagons, BUT half of this actually has an inner inside which houses a tent for 5 people to sleep in. Do you think it is still going to be possible to put this up, as if not we are up ****creak without a paddle so to speak as too many to sleep in the wagon. Thanks again x
