hi all.
i have a 10 year old coloured mare. who for the last 4 years been on and off lame, first she had a ligilment injury which she had 2 years off and then she got cellulitis and then lami. ive been advised to retire her completely from work. hacking is rubbish round us so thats out the question and im not confident on the roads. i had a vet down about 4 months ago and he said she was 100% sound take it slow and work her, so started doing that then the cellulitis started then the week after she got lami. and now she reared the full and fell over, no idea why, shes very sharp out of work, now shes slighty lame, its like her legs springs up and very odd to watch. im confused on what to do with my girl. and the leg shes lame on the insurance wont cover as thats the one that had the ligilment injury.

To me and please don't think I'm being awfull x but I ha this situation with an arthritic pony and I made the awfull decision to have her pts she wasn't going to get any better. And was in pain everyday even with painkillers and I genuinely couldn't afford all the treatment she was going to need constantly x. It was awfull but was the right thing to do x. Maybe if your pony isn't going to improve and is constantly gon to be in pain on and off maybe that is the right thing to do x just have a chat with your vets and see where they think you could mVe forward with helping her improve maybe ? X x

What about a referral to a major horse practice for them to do a complete lameness work up on her and give you some answers? I don't know how that would work out on your insurance though.
