This show is affiliated to the National Pony Society and the NPS affiliated classes will be run under NPS rules. Classes are open to Members and Non-Members of the NPS, but Non-Members will need to become Adult Showing members to enter the finals at the NPS Spring Festival 2013.
The NPS General Rules for Showing apply (see NPS website for details).
In each class the three highest placed ponies, not already qualified, within the first six places, will qualify.
winnings in the 2012/2013Novice and Pure Novice Winter Championships will not debar ponies from the NPS 2013 Mountain and Moorland Novice Ridden competitions.
This show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society ( BSPS) and all persons entering, competing,
Showing or otherwise taking part in BSPS classes, whether or not members of the BSPS are subject to the
Constitution and rules of the BSPS including the disciplinary procedures, and shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS.
Any pony taking part in classes judged under BSPS rules will be liable to dope testing.
2013 BSPS Winter Championships Show.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize-winners will qualify in the Novice classes and Open first pony of show hunter type class and in the MIXED HEIGHT NOVICE CLASSES the 1st, 2nd,3rd and 4th prize winners will qualify.
In the Open classes the three highest placed Restricted animals in each class will qualify, and in the MIXED HEIGHT OPEN CLASSES the four highest placed Restricted animals will qualify, (riders on Restricted animals MUST wear an armband).
Classes 2,3 and 6 are not BSPS Qualifying classes
Animals must be registered before the date of the Show at which they qualify for the Winter Championships and must be ridden by BSPS Members, except in the case of exhibitors who have never been members before who are allowed 7 days in which to become members and register their ponies, providing they have a valid JMB Certificate before the date of the Championship they qualify for.
NORTHERN COUNTIES PONY ASSOCIATION. The first 3 in relevant classes will qualify for the Pony of the Year Show to be held 2013
1. The judges decision will be final.
2. The organisers and show committee will take any necessary precautions to ensure the Health and
Safety of persons on the showground. It is a condition of entry to the showground that all persons will act on any instructions given to them by the show committee, in so far that it can affect the health and safety of all. The committee of NCPA Shropshire accept no responsibility for loss, injury or damage to any person or their property whilst on the showground, car parks or approaches. All entries are subject to these conditions.
3. In the event of cancellation a £2.00 levy will be deducted from each entry otherwise No entry fee
will be refunded.
4. The committee reserves the right to cancel, amalgamate or divide any class should entries so
warrant. The committee reserves the right to refuse entry without giving a reason.
5. Objections to entries or awards must be made in writing to the Secretary, on the show day accompanied by a deposit of £20.00, which will be refunded if the objection is sustained. All objections shall be delivered to the Secretary within 30 minutes of the occurrence/incident otherwise they will not be considered.
6. It is the owner’s due diligence to ensure that horses/ponies are not left unattended whilst tied to the side of trailers/lorries.
7. Correctly secured British Standard Skull Caps/Riding hats that meet current safety standards
MUST be worn by riders at all times when mounted.
8. All dogs to be kept on a lead at all times.
9. Exhibitors signature on the Entry Form signifies acceptance of the above conditions.

Class 1 Unaffiliated ridden part bred/Anglo Arab/Pure Bred Arab, 4 years old and over, any height, rider any age.
Class 2 BSPS (Restricted) Open leading rein pony, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over,
not exceeding 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 8th birthday before
1st January in the current year.
Class 3 BSPS (Restricted) Open first ridden pony, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old or over,
not exceeding 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 10th birthday before
1st January in the current year.
Class 4 BSPS Mixed height Novice Show Pony not exceeding 148cms. Competitors must be the correct age for the height of the pony they ride.
Class 5 BSPS Mixed height (Restricted) Open show pony not exceeding 148cms. Competitors must be the correct age for the height of the pony they ride.
CHAMPIONSHIP - Open to 1ST and 2nd from classes 2 - 5
Class 6 BSPS (Restricted) Open leading rein pony of hunter type, Mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year.
Class 7 BSPS Open first pony of show hunter type not exceeding 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 10th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Snaffle bridles only. No cantering is allowed except for individual performances, ponies must leave the ring at the walk or trot.
Class 8 BSPS Mixed height novice pony of show hunter type not exceeding 153cms.Competitors must be the correct age for the height of the pony they ride.
Class 9 BSPS Mixed height (Restricted) Open pony of show hunter type not exceeding
153cms. Competitors must be the correct age for the height of the pony they ride.

Class 10 BSPS (Restricted) Open intermediate show riding type, exceeding 146cms and not exceeding 158cms. Riders not to have attained their 25th birthday before 1st January in the current year.
Class 11 BSPS (Restricted) Open intermediate show hunter type, exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 158cms. Riders not to have attained their 25th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP. Open to mares and geldings 4 years old or over, registered in the main body of their respective Mountain and Moorland stud book. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh Section A & B, not exceeding 122cm. Pony not to have won a first prize in any leading rein class. To be shown in a snaffle bit, the leading rein must be attached to the noseband only. The reins must go directly from the bit to the rider’s hands. Riders must have attained their 3rd but not have attained their 9th birthday (rider’s ages are as at 1st January in the current year).
Class 18 NPS M & M NOVICE FIRST RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP. Open to mares and geldings 4 years old or over registered in the main body of their respective Mountain and Moorland stud book. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh Section A & B, not exceeding 128cm. Pony not to have won a first prize
in any first ridden class. Ponies must not be cantered except in their individual show. Riders must have attained their 3rd but not have attained their 12th birthday (rider’s ages are as at 1st January in the current year).
Class 19 NPS M & M LEADING REIN WINTER
CHAMPIONSHIP. Open to mares and geldings 4 years old or over, registered in the main body of their respective Mountain and Moorland stud book. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh Section A & B, not exceeding 122cm. To be led by an attendant
and shown in a snaffle bit, the leading rein to be attached to the noseband only. The reins must go directly from the bit to the rider’s hands. Riders must have attained their 3rd but not have attained their 9th birthday (rider’s ages are as at 1st January in the current year).
Class 20 NPS M & M FIRST RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP.
