That's great news. It's your care and effort that will have made the world of difference so you should be feeling very proud of yourself. You will be amazed how quickly the healing process is.

dont give up we dealt with this injury a 4 years ago. The horse went down a cattle grid and de gloved both back legs from above his hock to his hoof back to the bone. he had varying treatments on the legs. initially, a parafin soaked gauze with melolin and robert jones dressing when the wounds were healing, makuka honey (do be careful of proud flesh though as it does cause over granulation when he had proud flesh, we used copper sulphate on the tissue and a steroid cream around the margins he had laser therapy every day he ended up sound although ugly legs. Unfortuantely, this horse has had another injury last week when trying to jump a fence on his own and damaged the legs again with similar injuries. The same treatment is being done almost but with impregnated gauze (cant remember the name), silver nitrate strips for the deeper wounds, manuka hones and a hydro colloid gell. Good luck and do feel free to PM if you need further advice. I dont have the initial photographs of when he was first injured as they were a lot worse. But here is an idea of the healing process.

She's a kirtle connie! The best! Biggest bravest ponies going! As you probably tell I've got one! We had a very very bad degloving case on our yard 18months ago. The owner decided to give her a chance, and she is now sound and in work has taken just over a year but she is lovely! Good luck with her ad give her a big hug from fellow kirtle owner! Xxx
