Top spec smalls was won by Sam Roberts on Highland Lass?? Well deserved and sis a nice show, middles apparently poles were going everywhere but don't have the results sorry. Mary H did a grand job as collecting ring steward and made it a laugh for everyone there whoever heard of a 3 ring gag being a snaffle .............. you learn something every day, now there's something to argue about. This is what competing is all about, have a go take the rough with the smooth and have a laugh ............. even though we waited hours for the class but entries were good. Well done to the Judge qualifying in the Working Hunters so watch out, HOYS and RIHS here they come ............... just give mary a few gins and keep her out the way though Oh well we did not qualify so onwards and upwards hopefully!!!!

I meant that "Judge" qualified for the Novice, not the RIHS in case you read that wrong,............ benn a hard day and too much sun and wine...........

In my day gags were called gag snaffles, so what's changed. I heard somebody kicked up a big fuss at another show. Have people got nothing better to do then snoop and tell. Get a life.

a gag is a gag not a snaffle and in the nps rule book it doesnt show a gag as a suitable 'snaffle'!

Sam Roberts won large breeds templeton/o'neill on Synod Rufflette and got silver medal.
A fell win the middle height of the top spec whp and the highland that got measured out of the middles won the large height, the one with the really good jockey!
I think the pony Sam won workers on was highland Jury? halnaker martin was 3rd.
Waitwith west wind won novice workers.

Sorry I don't agree one rein on a ring is a gag snaffle. The bits in the rule book are only recommended not law. Any-way the nps ss are on the case I for one am not going to judge nps novice classes for fear of being spied on.

I thought fat ponies were being marked down but obviously not that section C, Sam was on was so fat. If it was not as fat it may not throw a foot either.

Then at least we have a fair chance by the judges that DO ahere by the book, and know the correct rules. A rule book is there to be adhered to, so the judges then should ahere to it also and not change the rules, becuase they think they are right. Won't be long then before we see 1st ridden in GAG SNAFFLES!!! then, after all we have seen double bridles in 1st ridden, and then go champion at a Championship Show, so nothing really suprises me now

I believe someone spoke to the gag person and they said the judge had given them permission. Makes a mockery of the rules then.

One of the problems is that rule books are getting longer and more complicated and also that most judges are on several panals and rules vary. Keep your rule books in the lorry and put a proper complaint to the show sec at the time backed up by the rule book.

The judge did not give them permissions she just did not knowthe correct rule! and as we had the rule book outside the ring. We did not have a pony in that class, but believe me if we had and this had come above us there the air would have been blue!!!! and the judge just seemed to think it right to place the "so called pony" even though it did canter half pass accross the ring to change the rein in individual show and a lovely counter canter on both reins was observed also, oh so nice to see dressage coming into the show ring in Working Hunters, Makes a change!!!!!!

Keep your rule books in the lorry and put a proper complaint to the show sec at the time backed up by the rule book. That should not be a problem you should know the rule for the class you are judging and the same for the competitors, if you dont know the rules you should not judge or compete. If the majority of competitors learn the rules for the class and 1 doesnt that is what causes the bitterness. Also there was someone warming up in spurs, is this correct?

nikki,i was outside ring with you,and yes there was someone wearing spurs, theta person was soon corrected I am glad that person was corrected but I did not see any evidence of this, ! what gets me is the way that so called "professionals" can do what they want when they want.i.e. Windsor, warming up in all sorts of gadgets and gizmos when it clearly says in the rule book" only tack that is used in the ring is allowed for warm up purposes" I really think that the NPS PUK and BSPS ought to look at these rules clearly and have monitors at shows just doing a spot check a few times and this may just knock things on the head. After all we have drug tests, height checks etc so why not rule checks?

What a lot of saddos you are, always poking your nose in other people's business. What rules was this show run under because there is nothing in the nps rules.

If you were there outside the ring with me you should know what rules this show was run under.!!!!!!!!!!!
NO, not a lot of saddos but just stating a fact that rules are rules and should be stuck to. It is not about poking your nose into other peoples business, but to play fair.
I would like to be told, and have been, if we were "flouting" the rules , and be put right, as we all make mistakes, as rules can be misinterpreted and misunderstood.!!
Rules were put there for a reason and as I said earlier should be ahered to by competitors and judges alike.

I think there needs to be someone stewarding the warm up areas these days as it seems to be the fashion at the moment to warm up in draw reins, spurs and any other gadgets. Its not just the "professionals" but they should be setting a good example!!

I would just like to add that it is not only the professionals who work their ponies in gadgets and tack that is not allowed in the ring.

Please, who was the measured-out Highland?
Plus, a gag is a gag is a gag. Not a snaffle.
