I have a 25kg dogue de bordoux x who is 1 in january and a 5 month old staff who is very slight at about 9kg now. They have been in seperate rooms since we got the staff at 9 weeks as she was just to small as my larger dog gets rather boistrous when playing. Now the larger dog is starting to wreck the house when we got out when the puppy is in the other room. If I take the puppy with me the older dog doesn't wreck anything so I think it's nearly time to leave them together but I still worry about it!! They play and never get vicious, my older dog has never shown any nastiness its just her size I worry about. What do you all think? I was going to wait until after xmas then try them for an hour or so??

Honestly I think you should have Introuduced them from day 1. I completely understand about the size. But my partners parents have a bullmastiff and a little Jack russel. We introduced them from the word go and they are the bestest friends. The little staff would have been used to a life alone, as would your bigger dog so it might be harder for them to accept each other now.
Do hope all goes okay, the sooner the better in my opinion. Xx

Oh no maybe I didn't explain myself properly. They are together all the time apart from when we are out and they ar best friends and that is why they are getting stressed when they are seperated and in different rooms as they can't get to each other but the big one would have squashed the little one if we had left them from day one :-(

Maybe get a small indoor kennel or cage the the bigger dog can't fit in so if play gets a little ruff the staffie can get away?

Yes she has got her cage that the big dog cant really get in. Was going to leave it in 'her room' as she goes in there now to get away from the big one if shes got a treat :-)

My boyfriend's dogs are all locked in the same room when the family goes out, they are a range of sizes from Labrador to miniature pinscher (not sure of spelling). They didn't mess around just put them in together and have to get on with each other.
Also my two labs are locked in together and they have their own separate cages, so if they need to get away from each other they each have their own space. Maybe try this idea, leave the two cages open so they can be separated.
