I have a fantastic 5 year old mare who when hacking out couldn't care less how close other horses come to her- However, when in the school or at a show she gets terribly scared when others come towards her or at her, often spinning around to face the other way or freezing.
Does anyone have any tips that could over come this problem? Thanks in advance!

Practice, practice, practice Also if you can get her out and just let her stand in the middle of the collecting ring until she is happy with others moving around her!

We have a lead-rein pony who was like that with bigger ponies/horses. Didn't mind the little ones in her classes! We used to take her for wanders around the show to visit everyone we knew who had a bigger (friendly) horse which did help somewhat. Hunting took a bit of the fear away but did give me grey hair!

I have thought about hunting her but didn't want to make matter worse- perhaps a small group could be an idea! & that's a good idea about standing her in the middle of the area! Will defo give that a go

I agree with LMSmith, practice! What about some fun games with other horses to get her relaxed and thinking its play time? (not to sure if that would work but pony play time sounds nice haha!) Maybe a bit of handy pony(ies)
