On behalf of a client.
15hh, 11yo, TB chestnut mare - Anna.
The good bits:
Good in traffic
Generally a nice person - handled by completely inexperienced parents etc on a regular basis
Loads well (I have never watched her do this but they say she was fine to pick up etc)
Obviously has some education as can go very nicely, working round with a lovely trot. Evidence of some lateral training (rider only at leg yield type of level).
Currently happy without shoes - all hacking from this yard involves roadwork.
Lives out in company and in mixed herd.
Was seen jumping 2'6'' nicely when tried.
The less good bits:
Difficult to mount - will not stand at a block without much persuasion, likes to dance if you mount from the ground.
Frequently 'on her toes', either jogging or trotting sideways. Iften whilst also tossing her head
Canter currently unbalanced and rushed. Evidence of schooling is there but current rider avoids canter as is nervous of it. Therefore canter is 'exciting' when it does happen!
Not a poor doer as such and definately not ribby but tends to stay very light.
Not a fan of the farrier but doesn't require sedation.
Was difficult to catch when first moved here (though often the person doing the catching was inexperienced parent). This is now resolved here but I imagine will reappear when first in new home.
Teeth and back required a fair amount of work when first done with current owner - this coupled with her wariness of farriers (but good with men in general!) has raised questions about her previous homes.
I really do think with some CONSISTENT work and handling from an experienced person she could be a lovely little horse - definately has a little spark. Has just landed in the wrong situation.
The right person and home to work with her is more important than price so offers considered. South Yorkshire
