I rescued Alfie 4 years ago when he was just two years old. He had been neglected and also had a fractured skull due to horrific abuse. He was a terrified little horse and when I got him home it took me two weeks for him to let me near him in his stable. I used to sit on a bucket and read my book so he got used to me! From there we progressed slowly on to handling, brushing, going for walks down the lane and, after a few years I backed him. I began to take him to shows and compete in working hunter competitions when he was five. Alfie has gone from strength to strength and now competes most weekends all year round. He goes eventing, does working hunter classes, flat classes, show jumping, dressage, pleasure rides and goes hunting, all with much success, recently winning a big riding club championship. This season I hope to get to some more British Eventing events and to go to some more HOYS qualifiers, last year we were very near to qualifying and have worked over winter to improve so hopefully this year will be our year! I have recently begun training as a nurse which means I sometimes don’t get to the yard until 9pm to ride him. While some ponies would ‘throw their toys out of the pram’ Alfie goes along with my schedule and is very understanding! Although he is still wary of new people due to his past, Alfie has always tried his hardest in everything I have asked of him. I feel truly honoured that this little man has given me his trust after all he has been through. I hope you love him as much as I do
I have asked for him to be considered for a sposership for this season so please like my pic on facebook! Thank You! x
