has anyone else besides got one of these lovely little dogs?
Only asking as would be nice to compare notes about them.
Bumble my girl is nearly 2 got her off a friend who breeds them as a present, as my other dog JRT had recently passed away at the age of 17, so Bumble came to live with me.
She's a red grizzle, daft as a box of frogs, loves being cuddled as all borders terrorist do, she's a pet not a working dog, and will shortly be joined in our house by her prospective husband and hopefully the patter of little paws afterwards.

Iv got one, Dougie, he's about 4yo and is also red grizzle, he was the produce of championship winning parents, but because his mum was too old to breed ( was a naughty girl and had a one night stand with a toyboy) Dougie couldn't be KC reg, not that that makes any difference to him. He thinks he is human but given half the chance, if you turn your back he will be off down the road to the jack russell ladies, he's a bit miffed that the lady in his life is a german shepherd who gives him the runaround when he tries to be 'friendly'. Dougie was a 'replacement' (not that you can ever replace) for another BT, Toby, I tragically lost him when he was kicked by one of my stallions when he ran into his paddock and froze when the stallion came towards him, and was caught by his hooves as he tried to stop. Dougie was bought between my husband and my father as they were so worried about me grieving for toby. Lovely breed of terrier but mine looks like spit the dog atm he's so scruffy!!!

One thing we have never tried with Bumble is letting her down to the yard, but for different reasons. 1 she is selectively deaf.................she can hear the sound of a tin of dog food being opened at 500 yards, but she refuses to acknowledge mummy screaming like a demented banshee for her to return when out on the fields! 2, all the horses she has seen when out and about she has hated on sight, and 3 theres a huge pack of dogs at the yard already they would probably eat her for lunch!
And yes she needs a visit to the beauty parlour as well, as she is on the scruffy side at the moment! SHe has to look her best when the new boy arrives, we only got him as his owner has been sent to prison for a serious crime so the lady who bred Bumble offered to find him a good home and thought of me........
She too would off down the road like a shot if she got chance to go and play with mums dogs who are all much larger than she is and are all terrified of this little bundle of fur haring towards them at a rate of knots............they all become cowering things and run back inside to hide form her!

I haven't got one yet, but I hope to in the future. I am waiting until my children are old enough to understand fully how to treat a house dog with respect, though, they are only used to outdoor working dogs, and if I was to get one at the moment they wouldn't get a minute's peace.

I have one, my first dog. Mum has had dogs when she was younger, but I was never allowed one, because Dad doesn't like dogs. I managed to persuade him to let me get one, who I paid for, but now Dad thinks he's his dog, and his reasoning is 'Ollie's not a dog, he's a little person'! Absolutely adore him, he loves everyone and is fabulous with my 3 yr old cousin. Not so great with our cat... He does chase! Definitely would recommend a Border to anyone!

Its true they are not just dogs they are little people in furry coats...................Bumble loves cuddles and affection, my vet told me they can actually pine away from lack of affection.......she gets on with everyone, she lives with another dog, collie x lurcher callled Fudge and htey are the best of friends, and two cats who treat her with contempt, only thing about living with the cats is that she can't understand why all the other cats run away from her.
One thing I have to ask is ...................Bumble when told off gives me the 'glare', just wondered if this is a border 'thing'

Think that's a terrier thing my patterjacks and my sisters border terrier both sulk if told off ,they walk to the other side of the room and glare at you until you feel bad for telling them off and invite them to sit on your lap again x

Well Bumble and Fudge have spent the afternoon romping round with my mums dogs in her somewhat huge back garden, everyone had a wonderful time, and all doggies are now fast asleep in their beds totally pooped after an afternoon in the sunshine
