hi there. as we are going to do mm lr next year i just wondered how a mm lr pony should go. have watched lots this year and all seem to do it different. some lead next to the pony, some at the end of the lead. some kids hold the saddle and some dont and so on. please help... any ideas! thanks

It really depends on your pony and jockey. If you trust your pony 150% then go at the end of the lead. The jockeys generally hold the saddle to stop the chance of the pony getting jabbed in the mouth and to help tinies do their up downs - Good luck xx

a true lead rein pony should walk when you walk and trot only if you start running and should slow and stop when you do teach them with side riens and lots of practice i find a little food reward soon gets them on side . eventually you should be able to do a show without any child on board steering .
idealy the pony should look like a paragon of virtue the rein should never be tight but it should never be so long that there is a chance it could get caught up in the ponies legs .
its about the over all picture and suitabliity to the child on top but an obediant pony that has been taught well should make it all look very smooth
