Intermediate Show Riding Type will not canter balanced ,then the power beneath him is too much for me to hold. How can I stop this and make my riding a bit more enjoyable. Really concerned about this problem.

work on a circle, use music to help you establish a rhythm, the inside rein will hold the bend and the outside the brake. Use transitions and change of rein to improve obedience. Try this for starters it should help.
good luck x

if he starts to get strong use a half halt. Practice this in trot first , then progress to canter

I had massive canter issues with my boy. Assuming you have had all the nessacery checks back, tack, teeth etc then I would workon strengthening the trot . Perfect your transitions. Then like gillwales said work on circles. My boy used to really rely on me to carry him so I used to canter with as long a rein as possible to begin with so he learnt to carry himself. Cantering straights on hacks really helped to. Especially stubble fields. Then moving onto canter poles. Do short quality canters rather than laps around the arena. And use trot to regroup and slow down before transitioning into canter again. Be prepared for it to take time! It is un enjoyable to be sitting on a racing canter but be patient. Always end on a good note. I do find lateral ecxercises really helped strenghthen the hind end. Leg yeilding, half pass , shoulder in, rein back and turn on the haunches .
Good luck
