I have just had my 4y.o Sec D backed and want to know which Neue Schule bit would be suitable. All my others go in a loose ring but I wanted to know if anyone had any other suggestions, thanks.

Our D likes the ns trans angled lozenge eggbutt as he prefers the fixed sides to a loose ring. all my ponies have gone well in the trans angled mouthpiece (I also have the universal, bevel and Pelham) Theirs also the demi anky mouth piece (never tried) and the verbinend. But that I think is for horses well established. My D didn't like it but then again it is a loose ring which is probs why!

I had a D that went fab in A verbindend, so much softer , but then different bits for different horses, I like a plain old French link snaffle, nothing fancy but I have to say for that horse that bit worked a treat

Try the Trans angled first. The Verbindend is fab but not really for a freshly broken horse I don't think

The team up bit, amazing bit for youngsters, just broken my stallion in it and he's got the best mouth on any I've broken yet

I spoke to a bit specialist when I was getting ready to mouth my PBA as I've always mouthed in a traditional straight breaking bit but this time I wanted to try something different and after speaking to the specialist and explaining what shape head and jaw my boy has she recommended the team up bit and not the starter bit and its the best thing I've used, I will never use a traditional breaking bit again, the difference is amazing x

Well I just have the loose ring version and its not got the angle like the others for the more advanced horse, it just has the lozenge set at an angle more acceptable for babies and not much tongue pressure if I understand it correctly x
