Hi
I have a 12hh pony who is now sadly outgrown and I would like to break her to drive, (if it isnt too expensive to achieve.)
She is really strong sturdy type and not fazed by traffic so I think she would cope well and as shes a fatty ! I usually get young children to ride her to keep any ailments at bay.
By means of a change I was considering breaking her to drive if I could do this at a reasonable cost, then myself or hubby could drive her and keep her weight down and her happiness high ! and as we are now getting older it may give us another horsey perspective !
I am seeking help guidance from anyone, regarding breaking her either me doing it (if you think this is possible given I'm a novice) or having her broken by someone else.
There always seems to be plenty of traps around Horwich but I dont know who they are and haven't managed to stop them for a chat. If you are on here and interested in helping me I welcome your expertise !
Thank you in advance Karen

I was a novice and did it myself. You need to get a harness first and then start long reining and then tie some tyres to the harness and then I used a pallet in the school and dragged that around and then put the cart on. I loved it felt like a small child! its amazing. I still have a cart but it needs some repairs - new tyre and seat needs new foam but you are welcome to have it, it is just rotting away here and I don't have anything to break to drive now.
