Hi, my 17 yr old section D I've had from a 5 yr old still in amazing condition but has just been plodding on for the last 12 months ridden maybe once a week lightly. In her day she was a top dressage pony and I would like to get her back doing some shows as she loved it!
Any tips how I can get her fit but not push her too much now she's middle aged- (I refuse to say old) and a little stiffer than she was, also any supplements you have used that work- I'm currently trying Glucosamine-Sulphate-500mg-Chondroitin 400mg
thanks xx

Same as anything else but maybe a bit more slowly, and "tune into" her so that you can slow it down if she's not happy. 17yo isn't that old for a D!
I've always used Cortaflex (works for me too when glucosamine/chondroitin don't) if they need anything.

I used cortaflex but didn't work as well as extra flex HA for my 15 year old who also tore his suspensory ligament a couple of years ago! So highly recommend extra flex HA- it's cheaper too and feedmark do loads of special offers!

My Dales was on Cortavet for years it's fab. Magnetic boots are good also. Warming up and down properly is the key I've found, lots of lateral work in walk to start with to loosen up. Also you can do stretches ect before you get on. This is what I have done with mine, he got diagnosed at 13 with arthiritis in his hock and a few years ago in his knee. He retired from ridden showing at 18 and still hacks down the road at 24 (and jogs all the way home!!) so it's all worked for him :-)
