I hope this is the right place to post this(?) my ponies saddle has recently started nipping him, he's still changing shape a lot with being a youngster, and before anyone begins criticising, I don't have the money until the end of the month to get the saddle fitter again to alter it, he usually comes every 3 months but instead of losing weight this winter my welshies put a lot on (hense the saddle not fitting as it usually would in winter). I have a 'riding roller' for my large cob, a roller with stirrup attachments, it doesn't fit my pony however, and have heard bad reviews about them a lot recently. Will I hurt my welshies back if I ride him bareback with just a padded numnah til the end of the month? Just to add I am balanced and usually hack him bareback around once a week anyway, so he is used to it, just wondering if he'd be okay until the end of the month? Any advice appreciated! Thanks x

I would think that would be better than a badly fitting saddle, I'm sure he'd let you know if he wasn't happy :-) welshies are good at that

That's how I knew his saddle wasn't fitting as I'm guilty of not checking until the saddle fitters about due again! He's 5, has never put a foot wrong except for in excitement and as I asked for canter a few days ago he put in a nasty buck, he's never bucked before! Usually when I ride him bareback he's very good, still excitable but he's easy to sit to and always has his ears forward, I have no doubt that when he's unhappy he lets me know x
