Hi, just looking for any explanations, so please feel free to comment. 7 year old mare, regularly seen by dentist, started quidding big time Christmas eve, vet came out on 27th Dec and again 0n 29th Dec. On 30th Dec she seemed to have stopped quidding and all was well. That is until 2nd Jan, intermittently quidding over next few days, called dentist out as vet had been unable to find anything wrong, dentist couldn't find anything either. Called vet again and pony is due to be endoscoped on 28th Jan, no noticeable loss of condition and no less droppings but masses of spat out food and every now and then a sludge in the bottom of her water bucket. She appears fine, alert and is not showing any signs of discomfort, I am flummoxed!

We had one just the same. It came to us with the problem. Vet and dentist could find nothing wrong either. We found out the pony had been doing it for years and it was put down to a stress or boredom issue. the pony had been in a yard where it had had very little turn out and had been very overshown and had then started quidding, along with a number of similar stress related issues. We found if the pony was turned out most of the time the problem seemed to stop but if he was in for any length of time after a couple of days it started again. Probably not much help but might be another angle to look at
