don't really know where to put this but here goes Katies always been a touchy hair shy pony but never nothing really bad just doesn't like little things like trimming her and stuff. Anyway she's been really funny with her head and nose lately! Eating her feed she flicks her head around, in the field she forever knods her head around as if theres flys on her nose, and today for the first time I went to stroke her and she swung her head away from me and stood at the back of the stable I really don't know whats gotten into her but its not like Katie at all to stand and run away from you Anyone any ideas? Or does anyone ponies do this? I don't like how she is as I don't like head shy ponies and feel sorry for her

You might not be able to see anything without a dentist or vet having a proper look, if it's higher up. It definitely sounds like something is bothering her, especially if this is not normal behaviour for her. Has anything in her routine changed?

this will sound horrible now but same thing happened to my pony many years ago and it turned out someone on the yard had hit him round the head with a bucket for kicking the door!! Might be a confidence building issue - obviously I hope not!!

just to throw another angle on it i had a pony that did this (but he did it when riding too) and he had a severe ear infection, he had been written off by so many people and ended up in a dealers yard because he was a 'headshaker' low and behold a good vet and a thermal imaging camera and he was good as new!!

Thanks for the idea's! Hottoddy, theres only me and my sister on the yard and we bought dont hit her, if ever we do its on the chestnut area (which rarely happens). The only other thing is theres a young girl at the back in houses and she used to ride her, shes one of those people that see's you raise your voice at her and she thinks she can..... thats the only other thing i can think of. We also have two factories next to her field, beesly and fildes and one that makes windows shes always spooking at them but would that cause headshy ness?

However, she was still being ridden etc without any apparant problems. I'd def get the dentist out.
