Have only done the reverse route on the Friday. Took about 3 hours - longer than I had estimated. Took main A roads and motorways along south coast.

According to AA Route Planner it's 86.5 miles and takes 1 hour 53 minutes! I'm planning on doing New Forest Show to Hickstead on the Thursday evening so hope this info is accurate! Guess it all depends on traffic. There doesn't appear to be a 'quick' route - no motorways etc, but it will probably be scenic!

I am doing this on the Tuesday eve, so I can let you know how long it takes and which route we take, if you want?

I live in the new forest and when I travel to Hickstead I either do the M3 and then M25 coming off at Gatwick junction or I do M3 coming off at Winchester and do the route that runs in between the 'M3 that goes cross country. I wouldn't do the coast route as the holiday traffic will be awful and has too many towns. Forget what route finder says in terms of time, add another hour on. Whichever route you choose god luck!
