I hope someone can help.... I have a mare that doesnt go very well in a pelham she tends to lean on it and i've tried all types including a Myler. She does go ok in a double but sticks her tongue out at side I think there is too much bit in her mouth as she only has a small mouth so i wondered about a Swale if this would help but didnt want to try it until i got some help as i have never had to use one before..
Thanks

Have you tried a waterford mouthpiece? Also a hartwell mouthpiece if she needs more tongue room.

I use a swales on my big man - I can leave it alone most of the time but there is enough there to make him listen if I need him to. Only use it at start of season as I have been marked down for it!

Hi
Ive tried a waterford snaffle and it didnt work. Not sure what a hartwell is. I ride her in a normal french link at home as a normal snaffle causes her to stick her tongue out. Ive tried them in pelham form and she just leans.

A swale is a brillian bit and would recommend it to an experienced rider.
