I am deliberating plaiting up one of ours to do the LR SHT, but I am anxious to fully trim out! Lol Does anyone successfully do both? The mane isn't a problem as nearly short enough to plait. But the feathers (some people have said stick down??) and the tail (can't be banged and pulled for m&m) are leaving me unsure! Can't help feel we will look amateurish in the SH if we don't commit to the full turnout, but that then puts us out if m&m.... Thoughts please

So do I! So was trying to convince myself we could do both as gives us another class.....and I have a Dartmoor in the field who should be doing some shows too, but always gets left as Puff has been being such a superstar...this way they would have a class each? I'm not sure if it would be sacrilege to trim her out though! Lol

If you are going to run it alongside your M&M and it will be a good example of a SHP then yes do it but don't do both, it's not possible, I don't care what anyone says you need that tail pulled and banged!!!!
But deffo run a plaited alongside your little cream puff!!!!! That's why I bought our SP to run alongside the M&M, unfortunately it hasn't worked out as planned but it will be another M&M that fills Doris's stable in time.

If you do it, it needs to be done correctly but if your pony is successful as an M&M would he/she really pass as a good SHP? Pulling the mane, tail & trimming is a big sacrifice just for the sake of doing another class.

She isn't my personal choice of stamp for a SHP, however have been told by several well known people that they would have her as one, as plaited A's are doing very well in these classes. It was more a pondering if we could get away with tactical trimming-but that would make us look not quite right for either! Did plait her today & she looked very smart, so was just thinking out loud really, as she wouldn't be phased by the obstacles etc (they won the obstacle course at pony club camp lol) Nice to hear other people like her as an m&m too though, thank you! Xx

Ooh I think I missed the point, is it puff you are looking at plaiting not the dartie? If so nooooo, she's doing far too well in her correct class, don't spoil it now. I thought you meant plait the dartie!!!!

Haha no the Dartmoor wouldn't plait up at all! Bless him! But Puff did look rather cute! However she is doing really well as an A, so I would be loathed to trim her fully out! And you have all confirmed my thoughts that it would look rubbish to try and do both! Lol

No no no she's far too nice as an A!! If she wasn't doing well I'd be inclined to say give it a go but definitely not when she's standing up in good classes.
