First, a balancer suitable for laminitics, then think fibre and oil. If mine I'd replace some hay with an alfalfa/oil chaff, or other fibre feed with more calories than hay. Linseed which is high in oil would help - micronised is easiest as it doesn't have to be boiled up before feeding, and the most well known supplier is Charnwood Milling. He still shouldn't be allowed to get fat though, lean is healthier for him.

What Sarah said. My laminitic is on Top Spec Anti Lam, Top Spec Alfalfa chop and Charnwood Micronised linseed, but the ingredients are more important than the brand.

What I would add is that even with diagnosis and corrective drugs, my cushings pony just never carries the weight he used to, or that I would need for the show ring, despite careful attention to feeding. However, he is happy, healthy and useful.

Same here, Catkin. Also, even if they could put that condition on, they almost certainly wouldn't cope with it.

How much micronised linseed does everyone feed? I've had my 14hh Connie on it for about a month at the recommended level,150 grams per day, but it isn't making any difference, am I just being impatient or not feeding enough?

Thunderbrooks base mix and chop along with copra or micronised linseed if you need extra condition. Amazing stuff !

For condition in my TBs I add a coffee cup of linseed to each feed. For maintenance half a cup.
For my EMS boy I add half a cup if he needs extra condition.

It is an 11.2 Welshie I have on the above feeding, he gets half a mug of top spec, half a mug linseed and 250g alfalfa morning and night.
