Has anyone had a pony who won't take the panacur equine guard which you add to feed over 5 days? My yearling wouldn't entertain it at all, added a mint supplement and more feed but she still wouldn't have it. I ended up having to put some fresh wormer in the syringe and squirting it in her mouth!

I have one that doesn't like taking the worming syringe so I put it in a small feed for her and she eats it ok! Trick is to give her what she really likes to eat(nuts).
Most wormers are given orally, so I would presume it is ok to give The Panacur by syringe but check the directions in the box or ring the vet.

I have various ones that I worm in feed - does it matter? Anything for an easy life!
Panacur is given by syringe to cattle and sheep so should be fine for horses too, in fact I'm sure some studs with large numbers use an automatic syringe as farmers do. Panacur is pretty liquid though so more messy.

Treacle mixed in a feed with wormer is good.

Not for those in danger of laminitis though, too much sugar.

Small amount of blackcurrant in a small feed with wormer often works.

Need a few pieces of carrot though. Used a potato peeler. Worked for me with the ponies wintering out so there was no argy-bargy with feed buckets.
