Since everyone seems to like photos of Troy, i thought i would share some from his lesson on saturday, (please do excuse his tail, i did it in the dark and was hoping to cut all the scraggy bits off then shape, and managed to take off ALOT more than first thought!) OH and here he is over the bridge for the first time, forever a chicken, he stopped then catapulted me into space! My little guy has been doing great too, started learning flying changes to make our rounds look a bit smoother, excited for the season ahead, here he is popping the bridge, and pulling the arena leveller on his driving training! and at 80cm at point of curve, I'm in safety seat just incase he thought it was too big

Which is why, so many D's are now scaring the pants off all the Warmbloods in BD competitions all over the country. Clever, bright and beautiful with movement to die for.. why would anyone have a warmblood, when they could have a D. Your ponies are beautiful, well done.

Agreed! Some I've bred are out there dressaging successfully - including the Team Quest, sounds a great competition, not going in my day sadly. You do have to make sure your chosen D has three good paces though for dressage, not all do.

What about the Section D in America that was in Horse and Hound last year, having won at Grand Prix!!! That was really showing 'em all. My Sec D Taffy, who heartbreakingly is no longer with us, worked effortlessly at Elementary level and loved the work involved, I just wish he was still here :-(
Enjoy your lovely pony and have a wonderful time together, he looks an absolute pleasure to ride and work with and so happy in what you are doing together. Keep up the good work and very good luck for the future. If he is anything like my beautiful boy was, then he will love dressage to music too, just a thought for you for the future maybe. Have fun always xx

He wasn't the first to compete GP in the US either, there was one I know of years ago. I worked my best D mare at home at Elementary level, but sadly never had the chance to compete her at it - they were few and far between in those days unaff, and it was at my limit as a rider too.. I never affiliated her although one of her sons was, and her grandchildren are talented at dressage too.

And now we've done our first BD having 63.95% in his first class (he would rather have been stood watching who was doing what in the carpark) into the other arena to get a whopping 70.57% after having to find a last minute caller and not knowing where the letters were (long arena!) www.facebook.com/katiedowkerdressageHere he is in one of his outfits!

He looks to have such a lovely loose, correct way of going, coming properly from behind. A joy to see.

I'm so sorry to hear this and hope you are both soon back on track again. He's lovely and you both look so good together and have worked so hard to achieve what you have, life is just so unfair sometimes. Sending you both a big hug and my very best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Had his 2 month assesment yesterday, the vet was amazed by his progress! He's allowed to start going on a five minute walk twice a day, if I can't hold him I can ride him! Then we can build up to 10 minute and eventually some turnout! She said he will be another 2-4 months of with strengthening it but I don't mind!

Quick Troy update, we are back in the wars (its just not our year this year!) he had what we thought was an allergy, two weeks ago his eye swelled up, then last week he started having spots of nosebleeds so we booked him in with the vets, they x-rayed him and found what looks to be a mass up his nose over his eye, he's going in to rainbow equine hospital for a CT scan tomorrow and we just need to hope and pray they can operate and fix him otherwise I'm not sure what the next option is, well i am but i don't want to believe that! He's only 12, i will keep you all updated

Sad to report that there's nothing they can do as it's grown too large & dangerously close to his brain 😞 Having a week to feed him all the treats in the world & cuddles too x
